The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Northern Ontario executed a traffic stop in North Bay that resulted in the seizure of narcotics and stolen tools. The incident, which occurred on August 6, 2026, involved officers stopping a vehicle and discovering contraband during a routine inspection. While specific details about the driver or vehicle remain undisclosed, the operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities in the region. Such seizures are part of broader law enforcement initiatives aimed at reducing crime and recovering stolen property. The OPP emphasized that this action aligns with their mandate to uphold public safety and enforce provincial laws. Similar operations have been reported across Ontario, reflecting a coordinated approach to address drug trafficking and theft. The incident underscores the importance of community cooperation and police vigilance in maintaining order. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stop and may release additional information as it becomes available.

The Windsor Police Service, in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Canada Border Services Agency, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, executed a major drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of nearly 1.7 tonnes of illicit drugs. The operation, which began in January 2025, uncovered suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and opium with an estimated street value of over $139 million. Twenty-one individuals were charged with 102 offences, including violations of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, with 19 arrested and two remaining at large. The investigation revealed a broker-style model within the commercial transportation sector, leveraging legitimate supply chains to transport illegal drugs across the Canada-U.S. border. Search warrants executed in multiple locations led to the seizure of 973 kg of cocaine, 660 kg of methamphetamine, 49 kg of opium, 230 oxycodone tablets, 17 firearms, $90,000 in cash, and other contraband. The provincial asset forfeiture unit is now pursuing proceeds of crime offences, aiming to seize related property. This marks one of the largest single-investigation drug seizures in Ontario’s history.
