Stilin' amongst the drumlins

A photo taken on this day in 1983 at Drumlins in Syracuse, New York. The venue was the basement hall of a country club with, according to Daniel Murray, around 100 people in attendance.

Stunned and delighted by the topography near Ovando, MT.
Drumlins? Tiny moraines?

I’m with my best travel buddy and the sun is shining. #Stunday #EastCoastKin #Montana #Landscape

Well the drumlins in Duanesburg NY are pretty good. This is from NYS 1 m Lidar. These drumlins are incised by post glacial rivers and Interstate I-88.

Used to be I could just post a nice lidar-based image of some drumlins and get 100 likes.

Glasgow is built on a post-glacial landscape filled with low, but steep hills called drumlins. This didn't stop the city's Victorian architects and there are many examples where their designs have simply taken such challenges in their stride.

A lovely weekend spent hiking in the old kingdom of Craven, where limestone fists and heath-covered drumlins are the only remains of a greening, forlorn Early Medieval realm…

The guy who sat next to me in A-Level geography just came second in America's Got Talent.

Doing comedy, not Oxbow lakes and drumlins.

Around 20,000 years ago, Scotland and much of Britain were buried beneath the British–Irish ice sheet.

Advances in high-resolution seabed mapping have revealed extensive fields of submerged drumlins across the Irish Sea and along Scotland’s west coast.

High quality calcareous fen in lower Wensleydale, with tufa-depositing seepages. Set within mosaic of limestone grassland and rush-pasture associated w drumlins and meltwater channels. In so much of our landscape, the relationship between vegetation and geology has been masked by intensive farming.

Drumlins represented by hachuring, using @pinakographos.bsky.social's Python script in QGIS. Two settings for hachure spacing. I like the finer spacing, but the coarser could be good for showing a larger part of the drumlin field. From a 1 m DEM; smoothing first would make some of these look better.

Imagine that mess perched precariously on the sides of a thousand muddy drumlins & you have some picture of South Leitrim. Forestry monoculture has been an unmitigated disaster. It needs to stop now.
The extent of Storm #Eowyn’s impact on forests cannot be seen properly from the ground. This drone footage taken today above a stand I visited in Meath shows how wind hardened trees around the edge remain standing while the centre has been flattened.

Drumlinized land use, shaded by NDVI. Fields with various degrees of vegetation greenness, oriented parallel to drumlin long axes reflecting two different ice flow directions across the Green Bay Lobe, southern Wisconsin.

Terminal Moraines, Drumlins, Eskers… seen loads, ten-a-penny round here, tripping over the bastards.

The Goblin Marches was a desolate wasteland of crags, bogs, drumlins (elongated hills), and thorny thickets, as well as open plains and caves. Ruined castles and dead ancient cities were found throughout the Marches.
