Maybe, but so many new genomes are getting done by massive groups (DTOL) which have built-in sex chromosomes ID in their pipelines, from what I can gather.

yes in an ideal world I'd be able to bin species by observed-v-expected sex chrs, but I'm not sure there's a scrapable database like that. Plus we might only find a system actually has two or three Z/X chromosomes when we assemble it: @charlottewright.bsky.social has found this with DToL assemblies!

I added a tab for organising by country. I imagine it’s to the great pleasure of the DToL team that the UK appears to be streets ahead, tallying up 11.1 genomes a DAY 2/

Cathay Group has ordered 2 more A350F freighters, totaling 8! These will operate under Cathay Cargo from Hong Kong. I would LOVE to do more reviews for the journals I publish in, but they rarely hit me up. Presumably because I'm still just a lil ol' postdoc. All the requests I get are from DToL genome reports and predatory publishers 🙃
It's so hard out there right now, especially for early career scientists. Publishing expectations have never been higher, and it's taking a year or more for papers to go through peer review, largely because of these delays. I know things are hard, but if you're publishing, you should be reviewing.

Merce Montoliu brings us a presentation about wonderful #lichens at the #biodiversity25. Lichens are associations between mycobionts (fungi), photobionts (green algae or cianobacteria) and microbiomes. 38 different lichens were sequenced in DToL & ASH. Results show complex multiorganismal scenarios
