Business as usual
The EAA conference in Athens went ahead amid boycotts, protests and an unresolved crisis over Gaza and Israeli institutional participation. Nothing was resolved; archaeology continued. A short reflect...

New on Feral Methods: Business as usual.

The crisis around Gaza had not disappeared. Boycotts, withdrawals, protests. Yet in Athens @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social continued as usual. It did not look normal. It looked uncannily normal.

This is horrendous.

How does #EAA @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social think that it is in anyway acceptable to have this kind of person as a member, let alone a session co-organiser/ paper co-author???

Eurghhh.

#Archaeology 🏺 #EAA2026
Introducing some of the EAA paper co-authors and session co-organisers: Michael Eisenberg from the University of Haifa and director of Hippos Excavations. Fun fact about Hippos: according to Michael's public post, the Hippos project dedicated a missile sent to Gaza. Welcome to Athens, Michael..

#EAA2026 Athens 🇬🇷 came to an end today. It may not have been the best edition we’ve attended, and it seems that some changes are needed - but together with @agatahaluszko.bsky.social, we still had a great time, met wonderful people, and enjoyed many good conversations. See you next time!

We're at #EAA2026 in #Athens, where the local fauna are taking the meeting just as seriously! We spotted this fox conducting an independent survey of the #OdeonOfHerodesAtticus. Results? Excellent site awareness, questionable note-taking… 🦊See you at stand 26/27! @archaeologyeaa.bsky.social
