The image depicts a wooden structure with a thatched roof. It appears to be an outdoor setting, possibly the porch of Mexican workers' home in East El Centro, Imperial Valley, California during 1976-1979 as suggested by the text on top left side of the photograph. The wood shows signs of wear and age. In front of this structure is a wooden table with various objects placed upon it: two large white containers or barrels, one standing upright and another lying down; what looks like an old-fashioned can opener or similar tool resting near them; and some other indistinct items possibly tools. There are also larger cylindrical metal cans on the ground beside the table. Various farming implements lean against the structure's wall, including a shovel with its wooden handle and blade partially visible, two long-handled brooms or brushes (one is more upright while the others lay flat), an axe leaning at different angles to the leftmost edge of the photo, and what appears to be an old water can or oil drum. The ground shows signs of weathering; it's a dirt floor with some stains possibly indicating frequent use. The overall atmosphere suggests simplicity and functionality within this space used by Mexican workers during their employment in agriculture.

The image depicts an outdoor scene from what appears to be the early 20th century. It shows a barren, dirt-covered area with several dilapidated wooden structures and sheds of varying sizes. Some appear to function as makeshift homes or storage units. In front of these buildings is parked a vintage vehicle resembling a Model T Ford, indicative of its age. The ground looks uneven and unpaved, suggesting it's an older rural setting without modern infrastructure. Power lines are visible in the background with one pole extending higher into the sky than others. The image appears to be black and white or sepia-toned, giving it a historical feel. Overlaid on top is handwritten text that could represent metadata such as date or description related to archival information about slums of East El Centro, California where Mexican field workers lived in housing rented for eight dollars per month.
