I got part5 done! And it's blocking before doing the neck/button band.
Kal formally finished on Weds, putting me 1.5weeks behind; but... if its dry by morning I could get a good start on the last part... and maybe finish a week behind? 🤞
Cardi in shades of blues and purple on blocking mats. Almost complete but missing the button band & collar.

The knitting is officially finished!
I just have to graft my button band to the inside, whip stitch the button holes and steeks, and sew on buttons.

But for now: I'd like to celebrate how unintentionally symmetrical my buttonband turned out 🥳
The button band on my cardi in shades of blues and purples. Its worked out to have a magenta stripe almost perfectly where it will fold in half! 5 blue plastic stitch markers are placed where buttons will be sewn on to the right of the fold and my hand is visible holding the live stitches on the cable flat to the left.

I finally got pt4 knitting finished! Still need to bind off, and steek.. hopefully this evening.
Then maybe pick up the sleeves tomorrow.
Only about half a week behind. Let's do this!!
Inside of the back of the hobbii mkal easy summer cardi towards the end of part 4. I made it, finally! Worked in luisa harding amitola in shades of blues, purples, and flashes of magenta.

But, between ripping back twice and our recent heatwave, I'm only about 25% through part4! 😩
Hopefully get caught up on pt4 today/tomorrow and start the sleeves Friday or over the weekend.

spent most of weds evening reading, rereading, and charting the instructions. I def need both chart and written instructions, but I'm particularly struggling with this being in plain english.
Got pt2 done yesterday; look at those colours! And its such a snuggly yarn ❤️
a piece of knitting in progress. The cable panel from last week at the bottom. This weeks pattern is panels of basket weave and cabels worked from the long edge of the cable. Yarn is in shades of blues & purples, with some glorious patches of bright magenta and teal. Truly magical in person! Piece is still on the cable needle and two balls or yarn are attached and placed above the piece. There are also stitch holders at either end of the long cable, awaiting future use.

I took a photo but never posted my pt3 progress!

Added the steek.
Expecting pt4, due tomorrow, to join the back & fronts at the side seams. Debating if I want my colour fades to get narrower & what of the sleeves?!

I so wanted to follow this with no mods, promise!
The hobbii easy summer cardi mkal after part 3. Its folded in half because I added a steek to the fronts so the colour fades match, so what you see here is the right half from shoulder to underarms; the back is almost square while the front is shaped to create a v neck line. Worked in a yarn that fades through lush blues, purples and magenta. There are a collection of needles, stitch holders and yarn balls still attached to the live stitches.

Part 3 is out! We get to start the two fronts from the other side of the cable.
Contemplating adding a steek & working them in one piece so my colour fades match across the front.
Downside to mkals: I dont know what's coming next; if I mod the pattern will it break?🫣

Pt4 is going REALLY slowly. Decided to join at the side seams per the pattern. But keeping my steek and active yarns for front & back.
Ripped back once to change how I join at beg/end of row. Got a bit further in & spotted I'd swapped yarns, so just ripped out 6rows. 🫣

Steek secured and cut!
Did a quick fit check when partially cut, cos I was starting to feel a touch paranoid it was gonna be too small. It is a bit snug, but it's fine.

I can now start pt 5 & pick up for the sleeves. Only 6days behind the kal schedule.
Steek secured with crochet! The main body of a cardigan in shades of blues, purples and pink; with a raised centre panel of 2rows of crochet stitches. I will be cutting between the ridges the crochet has created to open up the piece. Steek partially cut! Started from the neck so I could try it on as a vest. It is a bit snug but will be perfect as a layering cardi. It also needs blocking so that may relax the fit a touch too. Steek fully cut! Oh thats so much fun I want to steek every knitting project in future!!! Ahem, sorry.. but honestly an insanely clever and transformative technique. What was a vest is now fully open down the front. A small pair of silver scissors sits on the left side and a couple of stitch holders are visible at the shoulders holding active stitches from part one.

Finally finished my italian (twisted) bind off done!!
Have a weird running stitch effect going on though (clearer in 2nd pic). Def not undoing this but curious if anyone can explain what's up?
Can see its the "purl bump"; is it tension, artifact of twisted bo or...?
Bottom hem of the easy summer cardi, fully bound off; bind off edge is to the top of the picture. Shows the 6cm of twisted rib in shades of putple and magenta. Theres a fold in the fabric to the right because I've not cut my steek yet. Right side is visible on the inside layer, wrong side on the upper layer. Close up of the wrong side of the bind off to show what looks like a running stitch along the bind off edge. It is the purl bump, or top of the loop from the other side of the fabric where the bind off has been woven. I'm unsure if its a tension problem (have i bound off too tight/loose)? An exepected effect with the italian bind off? Or something I've done (consistently) wrong? If anyone know I'd love to understand & learn! I def have more stretch in the rib than the bind off, and the effect is equally visible from both sides. Havent secured the end i was working with so could adjust it (maybe) if it is tension.
