From yesterday's hike: it looks like Sunol Wilderness just installed this EBRPD logo leaf to the pedestrian gate at the entrance:

I do love the unhinged stick figure dog glyph the EBRPD uses in signage

Was it Mike Vandeman? He’s got a thing for unauthorized actions involving sharp objects on EBRPD lands.

Nope; he said it is not part of or associated with any organization. He said he was unhappy with EBRPD efforts around invasives and decided to do work on his own.

First major rain, all of that dirt he's digging up and loosening is going to wash right into the marshes.

I keep a person out hacking with a pickaxe alongside SF Bay Trail near Pt Isabel.

Today I asked if it was part of a restoration project. They quibbled over my use of "restoration", so I asked what org they are working with. First they said EBRPD. Then acknowledged it was just a personal project.

Going to school is included in commuting and yes we need more hill service. Particularly before 8 AM so hill kids can get to zero period at BHS. Now who's paying for it is the question. AC Transit doesn't want to because the population density is too small. I have been pushing for EBRPD to fund it

As one of a handful of people who actually cycled, or tries to cycle, the Wildcat Marsh & Landfill Loop trail, it's frustrating to cycle a mile in only to find a locked gate. No online information on its current status or when it might reopen. Who manages this trail? City of Richmond or EBRPD?

I love EBRPD to death but I feel like the last thing they need is another giant park to manage.

"January Oaks"

Round Valley Park, EBRPD.
Had a short workday a few weeks back...several actually. Logged time in some "old friend" parks I've left miles of footprints in.

As fun as it was ebiking there from BART, it's outrageous that EBRPD has the budget to maintain 50-car parking lots at all the trailheads along Skyline Blvd but not to provide transit service — even just a weekend shuttle, anything.

On an aside, if you ever come across an old Army map of what now is the EBRPD/Wild Cat Canyon, and it has the location of a Cold War bunker you are pretty sure no one knows about...you hide that shit like the goonies map and you red phone me. Carry on.
