This is Echevaria “Blue Metal” for #paletteuary2025 today which was a dark slate blue. I seriously looked forever and I think this might be the only dark blue succulent out there.

Such a contrast from neon breakers yesterday, it’s an elegant plant!

For day 13 of #ArtAdventCalendar I thought I’d show off my most Christmassy feeling #plant painting- Echevaria Ruby Slippers. It turns this fantastic crimson in full sun.

Mine was unfortunately eaten to nubs by my pet lionhead rabbit BunBun and is still recovering. 😅

It seems to glow, and has been accented with gold leaf to highlight the long, fleshy, drop shaped leaves and their geometric arrangement against the dark background.

I’ve painted perhaps too many echevaria, but I loved the geometric zen of this one, and it was the right shade of green for day 19 of #paletteuary2025. These get so large, I may have found another I need to track down for the collection!

Echevaria Silver Star is a rosette of many layers of extremely elongated teardrops with extended spikes on their ends. It is a medium green, but grows pale and gains red at the tips of the spikes as it sun stresses. This one’s spikes are edges in gold leaf.

Alrighty, day 1 of #paletteuary2025. I’ve decided to draw a succulent 🌱 🪴 each day, most of which I have in my sunroom! #Plant #art time.

This is Echevaria “Perl von Nurburg” for day 1’s lavender. It is this color in real life when sun-stressed, and its flowers are this color- a triad complement.
A purple to blue sun-stressed echevaria plant with pointed, scalloped leaves with bright coral edges is blooming a reddish green flower spike with four buds and one open flower. Inside the flower the stamen can be seen. The flowers, stamen, and edges of the echevaria leaves are accented in a delicate gold for fun, and the entire plant is digitally painted on a pale coral pink background.

Improve? I’m feeling like the gold leaf is too much. Maybe just the newer central leaves? Little less chromatic overall?

I put a tiny plant in my greenhouse that I thought was an echevaria but it turned red and started growing weird and that’s how I found out it’s actually a graptosedum 🤷🏼‍♀️

An extra hour on tonight’s #paletteuary2025 - Echevaria “Neon Breakers”. It’s one that you see a photo of and think “no way that’s real”- but I’ll assure you it is, though I intensified a bit to match today’s royal purple.
