At home it was the Vic-20...I still have "3583 bytes free" seared in my memory. Then added the 16k memory expansion. Followed by a C64, then an A500. At school, Beeb micros on an Econet network. Hilariously hackable. Happy days.

I'd been working with the 32016 second processors for some time for student computing labs, booting Panos over Econet, so came to the ARMs some time after they first appeared for developers, and went straight to an Archimedes.
Also ran RISCiX a bit later.

The Econet thermostat that goes along with this furnace kinda seems like it sucks though, and the app is truly atrocious. Very much looking forward to when the install is complete and I can plug an ESP32 into the diagnostics port to control it directly, lol.

Clearly the 80s were embarrassed by all the cables, so the photographer got rid of them. Making it seem as if Econet™ was wireless and the computer ran on batteries.
In today's world however the green carpet and the proximity of the desks are the part that looks unrealistic. Really different times.

Would you count Econet as a medium? When I was at school we were allowed to *I AM GAMES on Sunday to access a library of games, and I think Fire Track was the first game I experienced that way on one of the computer room's Master 128s.

I spent a good chunk of my evenings this week implementing econet over websockets for a javascript BBC emulator. The resources I'm burning to run software that at most can use 32Kb of ram is frankly obscene. I do have all the CP/M (torchnet) support working in the server however.

One day, I hope so. This project is about two players sharing one machine, but the underlying maths will hopefully feed into a more multi-machine setup, connected by Econet, for example. That’s the plan, anyway!
