*ECOTOPIA intensifies*
Today I announced an agreement between Washington state, Oregon, and British Columbia to renew and strengthen our partnership.

Together, the Cascadia region will address housing affordability, invest in clean energy, and create the conditions for long-term economic growth.

Here's how The Futurist magazine imagined it in 1981. Do you live in Ecotopia or MexAmerica?

Years ago, on my Grams' recommendation, I read "Ecotopia," a fiction novel about a journalist visiting a seceded part of California focused on environmentalism and sustainability.

I keep thinking about a social tenet of Ecotopia wherein interactions are meant to be genuine, not transactional.

they're spending like a million dollars per victim to torture people... bro, we could be building a borderless socialist ecotopia for that kind of per capita outlay, wyd

I was kind of with Ernest Callenbach's "Ecotopia" until I wasn't, for this very reason

Historic milestone yesterday with the signing of a carbon market linkage agreement with California and Québec.

This sets the stage for large-scale greenhouse gas reductions and long-term investment in clean energy across our jurisdictions.

I see no benefit to the Pacific Northwest continuing to support flyover states that hate us. Time to re-read Ernest Callenbach "Ecotopia."

Ecotopia. The whole west coast
November 6, 2024 at 7:22 PM
Good example of "anti establishment one neat trick" was the influential 1970s novel Ecotopia, where a secessionist West Coast depended on highly efficient solar power that could be built out of common, cheap household materials by unskilled families, invented by a high school girl.
the whole idea behind MAHA and the griftosphere more generally is that there is One Neat Trick and that is why they fundamentally do not and can never have a point even if there are small benefits to some particular thing

there is no One Neat Trick and never will be
Second, MAHA isn’t all that concerned with treatment of disease anyway. Its core claim is that nearly all diseases can be prevented through virtuous lifestyles.

If we were all drinking raw milk and taking zinc supplements, we wouldn’t be coming down with heart disease and depression and COVID.
