It is perhaps worthy of note that the theory that Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, wrote Shakespeare’s plays and poems, was first proposed by a man named Looney.

Regardless, de Vere was born on this day, I am advised.

Jesus was Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford with a time machine and a universal translator
“Jesus never existed” is one of those maximalist points which actually is pretty to make a case for?

“Jesus not the Messiah” is arguable; that there was no Yeshua ben Yosef is significantly harder
you can be out here arguing about "which jesus" and "ackshully he wasn't real" but in the real world nobody actually is interested except in the way theyre interested in the guy outside the train station wearing a sandwich board telling you he has two heads but the genius one is invisible

Since it's Shakespeare's nominal birthday, let's take a moment to reflect on the life of John Thomas Looney - the er... brilliant academic who, having read A Midsummers Dream a dozen times ... came to the conclusion that Shakespeare's plays had been written by Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford 1/6

Some believe the 2nd vaccine was actually given to Christopher Marlowe, Francis Bacon, or even Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford.

If you're going to say that Edward de Vere or Francis Bacon wrote Shakespeare's plays, I will kick your ass. Fuck you

happy bday English writer Edward de Vere, b.1550.

Apparently many of them have acquired typewriters and have already written the complete works of Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlow and Edward de Vere

On the 476th birthday of Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, it bears restating that save where he collaborated with others, the plays of Shakespeare were written by the Stratford glover’s son & grammar-school alumnus of that name. Alternative theories mix snobbery with weak reasoning #ShakespeareSunday

More people who were actually Edward de Vere, 17th Earl Of Oxford? @tomscud.bsky.social
If we accept your standard of evidence for asserting the Historicity of Jesus - that bro existed, not that he was god - then we must commit to the following historical figures as not existing:

Socrates
Hannibal Barca
Pythagoras
Sun Tzu
Confucius
Leonidas
Attila the Hun
Jesus never actually existed.

It’s 2025, folks. Dems invoking an ancient, unscientific, superstitious myth are just as bad as Repugs invoking it.

I'm an Oxfordian Contrarianist. I don't believe there really was an actual historical "Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford", and the deeds attributed to him were performed by a variety of men, most notably William Shakespeare.
