a new cancer drug called eFT508, and the ketogenic pathway, preventing the body from metabolizing fat. When the scientists combined the drug with a ketogenic diet in an animal model of pancreatic cancer, the cancer cells starved.

The AMPK–MNK–eIF4E axis controls ketogenesis, is hijacked in pancreatic cancer that use ketone bodies as an energy source. Our findings reveal that on a ketogenic diet, treatment with eFT508 (also known as tomivosertib; a P-eIF4E inhibitor) restrains pancreatic tumour growth.
