Eira is often teased for speaking like an old wizard because she was half-raised by E-Sumi-Yan and as well as her mother who speaks the common tongue of the three great continents as a second language. Very formal, but a Gridanian lilt. #eiralore
Then I think about Eira's mother. Her mother resents Eira but can't let go of her because she knows she should love her daughter and that she gave everything for her daughter...only to find reminder after reminder of her own faults inside her daughter. Glaring at her. Day after day.

one of my favorite things to write about eira is how at her worst, she is exactly like her mother -- to varying degrees of self-awareness. It isn't until her post-UT recovery that she's gently made aware of this fact, and it is one reason she basically has ego death for a minute LMAO. #eiralore

Eira has purposefully built herself to be that way. Because once people start getting more personal with her, all of her cracks and wounds pulse and bleed in front of you. She's deeply prideful, quick to anger and then withdraw with little recourse to pull her out of it. #eiralore

The Scions and Raha especially eventually soothe this pain, but not truly until after her complete breakdown at the end of EW where she extrapolates that weakness onto Zenos, justifying her killing of him. The guilt breaks her utterly, but then she finally starts to heal. #eiralore

I really love how Midlanders animate, their faces and emotes -- and also they're not AS common as other races which I fear I like because I'm a weirdo lol. It also just happened to fit the Meracydian backstory I wanted to play with for Eira! Win-win!

Eira is giving me mixed signals here because lately I've associated her with storms despite her stubborn earth center. Her power and emotionality is sudden and fierce as summer thunderstorms, so it may be true that her true element is water, it's just been bogged down in so much else. #eiralore

This is her great fear, to sink back into that deep depression where *nothing* brought her joy, and by the end of EW, she decides to kill Zenos as if that might kill that part of her. It doesn't. She carries that guilt well past the fact.
