Fray and Steph sit together atop a table at the back of the Forgotten Knight. After sharing a kiss, Fray remarks on how pretty Steph looks up close and asks her name. Amused, she points out that perhaps they should have asked before kissing her. Fray concedes that the order is somewhat strange, though she did not exactly pull away. Steph suggests that perhaps Fray was simply the sort of company she had been seeking that evening. Pleased by the answer, Fray is eager to spend more time with her. As Steph gives them her name, Fray takes the metal cup from her hands and rises to their feet, offering to find a better and more expensive drink to match her appearance. Before leaving, they tell her not to disappear on them. Steph assures them that, after all this, she is far too invested to go anywhere.

Fray is laying down on a wooden table. They seem to be experiencing a great deal of pain. Golden-ish liquid is coming out of their eyes and mouth. Fray has somehow managed to crack open a good portion of their chest, exposing the inner workings of their simulacrum body. Ambrosia, the substance they have in place of blood, slowly leaks from the "wound". The alchemist responsible for creating their vessel is busy assessing the extent of the internal damage. To do so, he must keep Fray awake and continuously connected to his aether so he can monitor how the body responds to various tests. Fray is thoroughly unhappy with the arrangement and spends most of the process screaming and complaining, as though the damage were anyone's fault but their own.

Fray and Nidhogg stand in an open field in the Sea of Clouds on a warm, sunny day. Fray remarks that the landscape is "vast and painfully still," prompting Nidhogg to ask if they dislike the view. Fray replies that it's the opposite, and that they would love the place if they could feel anything. Nidhogg then offers to share his aether with them so they might. Fray considers the offer, but first asks if Nidhogg could meet them at eye level, as the difference in size is making them feel small. Nidhogg quickly points out that they feel that way because they are, in fact, small. Fray teases him for such a human response, prompting Nidhogg to finally indulge the request so the conversation can move on. After lowering himself to their level, Nidhogg asks Fray what they intend to do next, reminding them that coming here was their idea. He urges them to make up their mind before the sky turns the same shade as their eyes, meaning that the sun will set soon. The comparison leaves Fray visibly flustered. They blush and avert their gaze, momentarily at a loss for what to ask for.

Fray returns to the First and does their best to relay all the information gathered to Yahsre. He seems deep in thought about it all. Fray asks if there’s any chance Ceo, the Ancient whom Yahsre is a shard of and whose consciousness is currently a hostage in his mind, might know anything about the Solstice. Yahsre explains that Ceo was not highly regarded among Convocation members and that her insanity was well documented even in ancient times. He has little access to her memories, but says Wicked Allium, another shard of Ceo, might know more, so he says he will ask her later. The conversation shifts to Elanor, who is sitting on a bed with an expressionless face. Yahsre asks Fray how long she has been like that, and they say it has lasted all evening. In the past, when Elanor disassociated or had a depersonalization episode, Fray would swap places with her. Now that they no longer share a body, they thought the best option was to bring her home. Yahsre remarks that she looks healthy and is still capable of understanding the world around her, so the chances of an early recovery are good. He is about to use his powers for an incantation that would put her into a peaceful slumber when the apartment door creaks open. Yahsre’s sister Taara and his daughter Suvi walk in hand in hand. Taara tries to explain that Suvi could not be persuaded to be patient and wait to be called in, but Suvi keeps interrupting her, asking repeatedly to see her mother. Hearing her voice seems to snap Elanor back to reality as she mutters her daughter’s name in response. Suvi excitedly runs over and almost trips on the steps in her rush to reach her. Suvi rushes over and wraps Elanor in a hug, welcoming her home for the day. Elanor fumbles her reply, then pulls her daughter in tightly. Color returns to her face as she laughs and speaks with Suvi, showing clear improvement after the embrace. In the background, Yahsre organizes for the rest of the family to eat together that night. He exchanges a meaningful glance with Fray, who returns a relieved smile.

Yahsre and Elanor sit on the windowsill of their Crystarium apartment. Yahsre is about to leave for a work trip and, since Elanor will be managing the household in his absence, he lists precise instructions and practical details in a bit of a rambling fashion. This is an unusual situation for them, as Elanor is usually the one out and about. Her attention starts to drift (she's never been great at listening for long periods of time) and her eyes settle on his hand. She takes it, briefly startling him. Holding it near her face, she tells him to continue, and he carefully resumes speaking. She starts gently kissing his hand. The kisses shift into light nibbles, then into licks between his fingers. Yahsre tries to keep talking through it, but quickly loses his train of thought. This is intentional, of course; she knows his hands are especially sensitive. Yahsre is visibly flustered and blushing. He protests that it’s unfair to use his weakness against him just to shut him up, but the clumsy complaint only makes Elanor laugh. She apologizes and asks if she should stop teasing. After a brief pause, he admits he doesn’t want her to.

Nidhogg and Fray sit together in a quiet, peaceful area of the Churning Mists, with The Old Father tree visible behind them. After sitting in silence for some time, Fray grows restless. They study Nidhogg’s expression and decide that, despite appearing sad at first glance, he is likely just deep in thought. Their mind drifts as they try to understand why they are moved through this place so often, brushing against fragments of a past life they can almost remember, but never fully grasp. Their thoughts drift further, circling the question of why a dragon of his stature would choose a form suited to them and linger in it for reasons beyond mere breeding curiosity. The idea settles uneasily: they are, in essence, useless, unable to transform through dragon blood. It gnaws at them. Worse still, where they are usually quick with banter, nothing comes to mind. The silence stretches, and with it, a quiet fear of saying the wrong thing, of provoking him in any way. Suddenly, they feel a pull from below, lifting them upward. Nidhogg, perhaps sensing their stress, coils his long tail around their waist and pulls them close. He tells them to calm down, and Fray sheepishly replies that they haven’t even said anything yet. Apparently, they don’t have to. They look just as flustered as they are afraid.

Fray (white shirt) and Fray (red shirt) are kissing in a quiet, secluded corner of the Brume. The smaller Fray leans against a stack of boxes while the other stands over them, hands steady on their hips. They maintain eye contact as they kiss, prompting Fray (red shirt) to teasingly ask if the other likes looking at him. Fray (white shirt) replies that he prefers to keep an eye on him, implying a hint of distrust. Fray (red shirt) enjoys the attention regardless. Fray (red shirt) pulls back from a deep kiss, exhaling as they admit it felt good. Fray (white shirt) scoffs, pointing out that last time they were in a similar situation, they were quick to say he was a bad kisser. Fray (red shirt) quickly confesses they were lying just to get a reaction. As they say this, Fray (white shirt) bites their neck in playful retaliation. The soft hiss of an hourglass draws their attention, and Fray (red shirt) murmurs in disappointment. It turns out the hourglass is set to run out in exactly three minutes, the window Fray (red shirt) calculated as just safe enough for them to touch before their aether begins to mingle in a dangerous way. (Small tangent: for context, Fray (red shirt) cannot produce their own aether and instead acts as a kind of vessel for it. They need to draw aether from others to survive, but too much can push the simulacrum into overload and potentially kill them. Fray (white shirt), on the other hand, has a limited aether supply due to a constant leak he cannot control. Through touch, that leaking aether can be absorbed by Fray (red shirt). If left unchecked, this could drain Fray (white shirt) completely while simultaneously overwhelming and killing Fray (red shirt).) Fray (white shirt) asks if they really went out of their way to buy an hourglass just to spend time with him. Fray (red shirt) answers earnestly that they did, explaining that time means little to them otherwise, given their immortality. This leads Fray (white shirt) to question why they bother at all, since their moments together are always brief and uneventful. Fray (red shirt) seizes the opportunity to tease, asking what he would even do with more than three minutes. The question immediately flusters him; he backtracks, dismissing it and telling them to get lost. Fray (red shirt) simply replies, "see you tomorrow," implying they plan to meet again and repeat the same fleeting moment the next day.

After spending some time at the Beehive, Yahsre guides Fray outside. He is impressed by how many people know them there and by their skill with words. Fray explains it’s just a game they play when bored, which usually lets them drink for free. Yahsre expresses regret at not being able to spend more time with them regularly, and a slightly tipsy Fray candidly replies that they understand he and Elanor can’t always be around. Yahsre is moved by Fray’s considerate words, but assures them that no matter what, he and Elanor will always place Fray above their obligations. He adds that tonight will be a clear example of their devotion. Fray is initially confused, but when a voice calls them from offscreen, their eyes brighten with joyful surprise. Elanor leans against a wall across from them, dressed more formally than usual and seeming slightly out of her element. She briefly grimaces at the effort it took to be there, but explains that Yahsre had sent for her because he was concerned Fray might feel lonely. Fray runs toward her at full speed, prompting her to shout that hugging isn’t appropriate in a public space. Fray ignores Elanor’s warning and hugs her tightly, remarking on how tall she looks in heels. Elanor is flustered when they call her a lady, a term she rarely hears. Fray hugs her even tighter, rambling tipsily into her chest about how happy they are that everyone is there. Elanor asks Yahsre to intervene before her embarrassment turns to anger, but he instead adds to the situation, leaving Elanor’s mind completely short-circuited.

Hyur Fray and Au Ra Fray board a small boat at the far edge of Tuliyollal’s port, checking that no one is watching. Hyur Fray notes they cannot go any farther because Elanor forbid them from getting too far, while Au Ra Fray teases them despite being under similar orders from Sidurgu. Once seated, Hyur Fray notices Au Ra Fray’s chest and awkwardly asks whether it is a result of the recently used fantasia or something that was always been that way. Au Ra Fray misunderstands the question, and Hyur Fray quickly changes the subject, explaining their request: to use Au Ra Fray’s temporary appearance to confront their aversion to Au Ras and asking for a small amount of aether so they can properly feel and remember the sensation. Au Ra Fray warns that sharing aether is dangerous, as he cannot stop it from flowing outward and Hyur Fray cannot expel excess once their core is full. They silently agree to proceed carefully. Seeing Hyur Fray begin to tremble, Au Ra Fray reassures them that they have endured worse and will be fine. When Hyur Fray softly touches his horns, tears spill from their eyes as the simulacrum reacts to a deep-seated memory and lingering pain. They note this is not the first time they have felt such a touch and that, on some level, they always knew it. Instinctively, they tilt Au Ra Fray’s head to gently nuzzle their foreheads together, an intimate gesture they likely once longed to share with Sid while alive.

Yahsre often uses his dream-walking abilities to help Fray explore their fragmented memories in search of the past they lost. The practice also serves as a quiet way for them to spend time together, almost like a date. Most of their wanderings through memory are calm, some even uneventful. This one begins pleasantly enough. (Inside the dreamscape, Fray’s form appears as the man they had been in life.) Fray is visibly excited to be traveling along the higher paths of Ishgard, and as they near the summit, they playfully tease Yahsre about struggling with long walks in the cold. Yahsre comments that Fray’s outfit looks especially striking, and they admit they once saw a noble wearing something similar and wanted to see how it would look on them. Fray suddenly takes Yahsre’s hand and urges him to move before his aether gives out and the dream collapses. Yahsre freezes, startled by the closeness. He realizes their hand is warm, something impossible in reality. He nods, and Fray leads him up the path, fingers still joined. At last they reach Saint Reymanaud’s cathedral. Yahsre is clearly captivated, asking several questions about the nation’s history and motto. Fray replies with their usual sarcasm, but their eyes are warm when they answer, and their smile doesn’t fade.
