Judie Yates made this fun, and award winning, quilt that is perfect for October! This is the "Happy Halloween" pattern by Amy Bradley. Judie mentioned using some techniques that I had never heard of before, so I have some "learn'ng" to do!
She used: Snapplique & Embrilliance.

Embrilliance is so cheap omg, I was looking at hatch & palette

i think i'm liking embrilliance over embird tbh
embrilliance's trial at least lets me work with vector files off the bat, unlike embird

the only unfortunate thing is i can't save my work, but that's not as big of a deal right now as this was just me figuring out the program

Thanks i made an attempt with Inkstitch, i think I'll ask my parents to help me correct the stitches👍

H.P. Lovecraft themed quilt block 1 of several for my permanent boyfriend's quilt. Cthulhu design from Urban Threads edited in Embrilliance for the cool shape. Book titles designed in the same software. 70ish books left to embroider. 🫠

I have stitch artist (level 3) by embrilliance ... i had level 2 for many years & it was fine. I'm not sure if I needed all 3 levels cuz it's pretty overwhelming and i haven't figured out all the buttons lol

A software like Embrilliance, InkStitch, Hatch..... will allow you to customize & digitize (aka build stitch files)

I’m using Embrilliance and it’s not the most intuitive software but I don’t think any of them are

Going to a class for the Embrilliance Embroidery software this morning. Should be fun!

don’t get me wrong i don’t think there’s anything wrong with embrilliance. i’m just already familiar with inkscape and i like free stuff. from a learning perspective, you’re probably better off with embrilliance/hatch & palette because they’re way more popular thank ink/stitch

@nazfx.com I’ve got the budget to upgrade my embroidery software from PE Design, finally. Would you recc Embrilliance or Hatch?
June 19, 2025 at 1:28 AM
Yeah it doesn't come with it, plus I'm on a Mac. So I likely will have to get Embrilliance

I use Embrilliance! It was recommended to me by Gel. I like it a lot and it has good support if you ever need it.

100% agree.

I personally use Inkscape and the InkStitch extension for my embroidery digitizing and it's been an invaluable tool to help me grow as an artist. Sure, it may be like driving a tractor compared to programs like Wilcom Hatch or Embrilliance, but it's FREE and I love it!

I also use embrilliance, and am stuck between just learning and using inkstitch, or coughing up another $300 for the next tier up. I have the first tier of it, and it's barely functional.

thank you! i don’t often embroider but when i do i use ink/stitch for inkscape. it works for basically everything i wanna do, supports multihooping, and is totally free (unlike certain software. looking at you, embrilliance)
