A GWh is defined as a GW of power applied for 1 hr (i.e. 1 GWh = 1 GW x 1 hr). Energy storage can be discussed in terms of Power (e.g. GW) or Energy (e.g. GWh) 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🔋https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/electricity/energy-storage-for-electricity-generation.php

Coal use - esp. for electricity generation - is often tied to long-term contracts. From the EIA: "Most of the coal sold for electric power generation is sold through long-term contracts." 1 of 2 🧪🔌💡https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/coal/prices-and-outlook.php

Angering Canada will have much more impact on US oil imports than anything in the Middle East. In 2025, we imported 42% of crude oil consumed. 57% of that came from Canada, 6% from Mexico. From Saudi Arabia, 4%, Iraq 3%.

Energy consumption in EU peaked in 2006 and is slowly declining ever since. Not because we're doing "fewer things" but because the things we do, we do more efficiently. You can say it's only because of our regulation and lofty climate goals, but the chart looks similar in the less ambitious US.
