Enid Bennett (1893-1969) was an Australian-born silent film actress who became a prominent figure in early American cinema during the late 1910s and early 1920s. After arriving in the U.S. in 1915, she quickly rose to fame through her work with the Triangle Film Corporation, starring in 23 films between 1918-1921. Known for her natural acting style and striking beauty, Bennett broke from typical silent film tropes by portraying assertive, modern characters. Her career highlights include iconic roles like Maid Marian in 'Robin Hood' (1920) and Lady Rosamund Godolphin in 'The Sea Hawk' (1924). Despite the loss of many her films, surviving works like 'The Woman in the Suitcase' showcase her comedic talent. Bennett's partnership with director Fred Niblo and her transition to sound films in the 1930s solidified her legacy as a trailblazer in Hollywood's formative years.
