FALSE on it's face. Equalization comes from OTTAWA, not from provinces, collected from ALL Canadian taxpayers. Ontario tax payers ante up most (40%) of it, and Quebec tax payers ante up the NEXT most, 25%.

In Alberta urban centers like Calgary and Edmonton are overrepresented as far as the tax bill is concerned. Seems like urban taxpayers send equalization to rural areas. And I for one am sick and tired of sending equalization cheques to rural Alberta! We need sovereign cities in a united Alberta!
