So, the takeaway is that habitual offender laws did not emerge from the tough on crime era in the late 1900s, but instead from the eugenics movement in the early 1900s. The Howard Law Journal published my research on this last month.

The utter irony of today is that business leaders were at the forefront of the Progressive Era of the early 1900s because they understood machine politics was bad for business

apologies for the lack of modern lingo

Hey there, quick reminder:

DW Griffith was a racist who invented nothing

The silent era lasted for four decades, give or take, and can’t be covered by watching three or four movies

Ignoring the earliest projected cinema of the 1890s and 1900s hobbles knowledge of cinema generally

'In the Storm' - Kitagawa Utamaro, originally from Edo era, this is a re-carved edition from early 1900s.

Bronze Era (1900s-30s)
Silver Era (1930s-60s)
Golden Era (60s-80s)
Mass Monster/Mutant Eras (90s- present)

Next, I hope for the Musclecow Era, and that it blows the Mass Monster Era out of the water.

The main takeaway from tonight after moderates and Mamdani won: The Democratic Party is and always will be a messy coalition. In the 1900s, it had segregationists and New Deal Liberals. In Obama's era, it had Ted Kennedy and pro-gun anti-abortion Democrats. It is and always be a coalition.

Here's my incredibly unpopular opinion/prediction:

Future generations will write an arc of history where they point out that this is the era when we realized how bad the 1900s conceptions of intellectual property were.

I love these street scenes showing small towns in the early 1900s

the reason Frasier hasn't aged is because it was always set in its own weird little universe of imagined upper-class snobbery that didn't correspond to the 1990s in the first place. Like Wodehouse - writing a parodic take on the young men of the 1900s in the 1930s to 1960s - it transcends the era
And, like most '90s humor (except... Frazier, apparently???), it has aged *miserably*

In the mid-1900s, thousands of government workers were fired or forced to resign solely for being queer.

This era is known as the Lavender Scare — and we see history repeating itself under the Trump administration.
What Was the Lavender Scare?
An effort to push queer people out of public life during the Red Scare takes familiar shape under the Trump administration today.

History rhymes.
Trump et al. calls it the “Golden Age”. This is the Gilded Age part 2.

The wealthy lived like kings & paid no taxes, got away with crimes.
It didn't last. The Gilded Age from the 1900s was followed by the Progressive Era

Vote Blue in the midterms. Flip the House & Senate. #Pinks

Started a silly lil idea to thank you all: every time I hit a new follower milestone on IG, I’ll draw Alastor styled after that year.
1900 followers? 1900s Alastor.
Can’t wait to keep time traveling with y’all!
(P.S. The 80s is my favorite era so far! 👀)

Thank you so much!🫶

unironically this was what a lot of 1900s-era anarchists believed
The solutions are progressive but taking five minutes to think about how to implement them is reactionary

Hittite Big D. A follow-up to the Sumerian one.

I'll be making more of these, based on different historical eras, probably up to the Victorian era or the early 1900s.

I think if society survives, in 100 years we will call this era the citizens united era, much like the early 1900s was the lochner era. it really captures both the out of control court and billionaires and corruption all at once.
