Northmoor collects wreckage. Well that bit of the National Park owned by the MoD does. They test all sorts over that way. Tanks, missiles, planes. There are hills metal-crowned by crashed Lightnings, escarpments where you see tanks unfurled like steel flowers. It has ghosts too. – Tom Tripp #VOH

In Ireland's sheep-shagged mountains, the only places you'll find tiny remnants of the mind-blowingly rich rainforest that once prevailed is on escarpments and other out-of-reach spots.

To receive farm payments, farmers have no other choice. In essence, your taxes are directly pushing extinction.

Away for the weekend in the Cotswolds so an opportunity to run somewhere new.

Steep escarpments, beech woods, bluebells & views.

Alfred the Slow, sponsored by the fossil fuel industry, just made Australia smaller…
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred gouges 500km of coastline
Ex-Cyclone Alfred has caused beach erosion so extreme, it's left escarpments up to six-metres high in some dunes, including on iconic Gold Coast tourist stretches.

I like all escarpments in spite of my lack of specific escarpment-based knowledge.

Do you have a favorite escarpment? Mine's the Portage Escarpment because I technically live on it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

The massive 32 acre hillfort on Martinsell Hill, dating from 600 BC. It was apparently known for strange, Palm Sunday fairs until 1860, where local youngsters threw oranges and sledded down the steep escarpments on horse jawbones!

I love the Owyhee Mountains. They remind me of the high deserts of northern Arizona. Lush little riparian area, sweeping grasslands, forbidding escarpments, and a turbulent sky. I barely finished my field work and escaped before the rain came down.

#Cycling the simply incredible Gorges de la Nesque yesterday in Provence, France - a giddying drop into limestone forests with a mountain road engineered through the rock, and vultures (yes, really) soaring above 🤩

Huge cave systems & rock shelters are everywhere in the escarpments 😮

The US didn't rename the Gulf of Mexico. "take all appropriate actions to rename as the ‘Gulf of America’ the U.S. Continental Shelf area (...) and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba". They just grouped the Texas-Louisiana and Florida shelves, and the Sigsbee/ Florida escarpments

Alderley Edge was great. Gave myself some proper time to explore and had the crutches, so let myself be a bit bolder with climbing random small escarpments than I might have been otherwise (helps that I have been before and know the terrain)

The Chaudefour Valley - Cascade de la Voissiere. Auvergne, France. #WaterfallWednesday. A valley eroded between areas protected by old lava flows which form crags and escarpments along the valley sides.

lies a quietness, yet untapped
when the heart rests, the mind stills

Day 4 had us push a 5.5mi hike over some really rugged terrain, including boulder scrambling and loose little escarpments.

It was a mighty challenge but well-worth it.

I cannot wait for the opportunity to do this all over again.
