"ETAJIMA", Etajima, Hiroshima Pref.
This pennant is from the National Etajima Youth Exchange House, a lodging and training facility in Etajima City. It opened in 1968 and has hosted various training programs and events.
Total length 61cm (24.0in). 1970s or '80s, #vintage
1, Pennant of Etajima. Illustration printed on white cloth. Brown synthetic leather decoration on the left edge of the flag. With two thin gold ribbons. 2, Pennant of Etajima. The illustration is of the National Etajima Youth Exchange House and the cutter(boat) training program taking place in the sea in front of the house. The orange color of the pennant as a whole evokes the image of being filled with warm sunlight. 3, Enlarged illustration. The illustration is vivid, like a print. A white modern building against a background of green mountains, a cutter (two boats) with many rowers on board, and a wide blue sea. The emblem (black) is on the upper left. 4, The title is written in English, "ETAJIMA" in bold capital letters (black border, orange).

"江田島", Etajima, Hiroshima Pref.

Etajima City faces the Setonaikai Sea and is known for the establishment of a naval academy in the 1870s. Today, the Maritime Self-Defense Force's Officer Candidate School is still located there.

1960s or '70s. #vintage .
1, Pennant and banner-shaped letter holder from Etajima. Illustration printed on black cloth. Yellow hanging string and fringe decoration. This pennant is a banner-shaped, wall-mounted postcard pocket. It depicts the building and slogan of the Naval Academy. Total length 28 x 19cm (11.0 x 7.4in). 2, Banner of Etajima, upper part. The slogan of the Naval Academy is inscribed. (i)Never be inimical to sincerity. (ii)Do not be ashamed of your words and deeds. (iii) Do not lack energy. (iv) Have I not regretted my efforts?. (v) Have I been diligent?. 3, Banner, bottom. The main gate of the Educational Reference Hall (1936) in the navy academy is depicted. It is a majestic structure modeled after a Western-style ancient temple. 4, Original package paper tag. It is labeled "Pennant Pendant, Sightseeing Commemorative," indicating that it was a souvenir for visitors.

現:江田島市(ｴﾀｼﾞﾏ-)の"国立江田島青少年交流の家"。1968年開所の宿泊研修施設。

これは瀬戸内海に面したモダンな宿舎と、カッター研修を描く。左上は所章で、ETAJIMAの"E"を船の形にアレンジしたものという。

経年の汚れと退色が著しく残念だが、鮮やかなイラストが印象的な作品。全長61cm。
