These are empirical questions. There are answers to them that will come out of the archives and out of sociology and ethnography. It's not just discourse - these are concepts that structure experience or they don't and that is subject to evidence.

It also counts if the scene is a person explaining their assumptions to an expert and that expert correcting them with more precise history/geography/ethnography/anyhropology/biology/movie trivia/forensics.

“Right, except rhino horn isn’t made of *bone*—it’s keratin. Like your fingernails.”

Ah gotcha, yeah that person has seriously misinterpreted what the book is arguing.

Really wish it had a different title, the most interesting parts of it are basically an ethnography of cycling culture in different communities.

Please to see the Hag make an appearance in BELOW. Most do not know this, but the seminal ethnography on sleep paralysis hallucinations, The Terror that Comes at Night, was conducted in Newfoundland, which still has a strong cultural tradition of night hag stories.

My thesis writing strategy is ‘make a table or figure when stuck on the right words’. Currently at 19 tables and 34 figures which may be a little unusual for an ethnography. But info science loves a figure! #PhDSky

It’s fascinating that danah did an astute organizational ethnography starting in 2015, and I did one as well starting in 2013 (which led to my book Recoding Politics), after we both researched social network sites. I need to revisit my own book and think about overlaps and shared conversations.

This article uses ethnography in rural Shanxi to show why coal-to-electricity policies counted as success while everyday heating stayed organised around the kang. It introduces "social heat": heating as a total social fact whereby piecemeal equipment cannot replace domestic whole.
