Import duty on built-up EVs is 70% below $40k CIF, 110% above, unless a maker commits to local manufacturing. The new EU-India trade deal (Jan 2026) cuts car tariffs toward 10%, but EVs are excluded for the first five years. So the wall stays up for now.

So we closed shipping to the EU a couple of weeks back with the changes to import duty by the EU.

However Royal Mail has responded, new services seem stable, & while it will cost customers more at checkout there won’t be import duty to pay on delivery. So that means no handling fee.

Grain: 2023 import ban, informal transit ban.
Steel: 2025 lobbied to end Ukraine exemptions. Now EU quotas cut Ukrainian duty-free steel ~50%.

From 1 July anyone in the EU who buys a zine from me for £10 will now also have to pay a €3 import duty up front plus postage. Brexit has already wiped out 50% of my print sales and this is just rubbing salt in the wound. Well done Brexiters.

so it's basically pointless if you're tiny business or sole trader / selling low-cost items to sell to the EU now huh.

Our friends and relatives in Ireland have asked that we do not send presents as they have to pay import duty now that the UK has left the EU, so we send money instead. Another Brexit bonus! Imagine how much trade we lose throughout the year, let alone Christmas!

Just to let y'all know, we've had to temporarily suspend all EU orders at senetmagazine.com, due to the incoming EU import duty of €3 that from 1 July will be hitting every package with a value below €150, regardless of size or contents... 1/3

Norway,s secret money laundry

Norway has not introduced customs rules on Russian fish, but the EU has, with an import duty of 13 per cent. Russian fish that is sufficiently processed in Norway is of "Norwegian origin" and exported duty-free to the EU

They were. You could also install linux on the fat PS3s until they removed it in an update.

Computers had lower import duty than consoles in the EU at the time.
PS2 linux existed for the same reason.

So if I understand correctly, EU residents will not pay an imposed duty on imports from uSA but American citizens will pay an import tax on European goods?

Sounds like Americans are loosing

If you are EU based and want a copy of this or my Vancouver Chromes zine it would be best to order before 1 July when the new import duty comes in.
The zine for Rebellion! is now available in my shop. It has 55 photos distilled down from 40,000 taken over the life of the project. I’m very pleased with the quality of the printing and hope you like it https://marcdavenant.com/product/rebellion-zine/

Steel is crucial for the EU economy.

To protect the sector from unfair global overcapacity and to ensure its long-term viability, we propose:

🔹Limiting tariff-free import volumes
🔹Doubling the level of out-of-quota duty to 50%
🔹Strengthening steel market traceability

I used to do a LOT of business in EU. I find even multi-national clients based in the EU struggle with the need to pay import duty on spare parts shipped from the UK. They are just not set up for it. There is a definite trend to move away from trading with the UK because the paperwork and the hassle
