ie = i en anglais et flamand
Oe = ou
Ui = euil (et venez pas me dire que c'est le francais qui fait bien sur ce coup la)

But English speakers have trouble with all "euil" words because we don't have an equivalent sound in English. And having it after the "r" that rolls in a way we also don't use, makes it extra hard.

"orgueil" is one of those words where you have to know the spelling is irregular. Along with "cercueil", "écueil", "accueil", "recueil", it rhymes in -euil, not in -eil (apparently they could rhyme like that at some point in some social classes)
Sometimes, borrowing a word can save it from extinction.
French ‘orgueil’ (pride) was borrowed from Germanic *uʀgōlī, which went extinct in all Germanic languages.
*Haifstiz (vehemence) didn’t survive in West Germanic, but French gave us its borrowing ‘haste’.
