UKVI 'eVisa' system (which replaced residence cards) going about as well as you'd expect: mother-in-law is Ukrainian refugee, renewed eVisa until May. Detained for half an hour at Gatwick until they eventually found it on the system. Tell me again why legal residents in UK can't have physical proof

So as part of my day job I regularly have to check people's right to be in the UK, via a UK passport, or an eVisa/share code.
These are legal requirements.
Anyone saying we need online ID so we can verify who has a right to be in the UK is lying to you. We already do that. They are lying.

We already see Border Force Officials deny entry to people with valid proof of immigration status at times. The whole eVisa saga has been mismanaged from the start, and continues to be now. That's before you look at impact on things like right to rent/work etc.
