#evuwatched Fallout (S1), even tho I'm not too crazy about the franchise this was definitely a highlight, I really liked their approach on world building & it gave me some nostalgia for early parts of the Westworld series <3 Would look forward to S2, but since I'm about to cancel prime we will see~

#evuwatched 12 Angry Men (1957) - filling in some of my blind spots from IMDB's top250 & tbh not sure how I dodged such a classic for so long, it even perfectly caters to my bias for chamber plays~ Also delivers a very important message that people should hear …especially in our modern trying times

#evuwatched Midsommar (2019)
A24 films are kinda hit or miss for me. Finally watched this one, after it seemed to had some hype behind it, but the "horror" didn't hit me. Felt more like a mystery/psychological thriller with drama (like se7en) & I like those more! But all in all this was rather… mid?

#evuwatched flow (2024) - Even went to saw it in our theater, since I also really wanted to have a cinema experience again. I love cats/animals, blender (free/open software in general) & an Oscar winner beating out very strong contenders! That's all I knew going in~ further review in alt text :3
alt: Flow movie poster (version of the cat being underwater surrounded by a swarm of fish) review: I kinda hoped for a mixture of Stray and Journey, which I also both loved, but tbh I ended up a bit irritated bc the movie seemed a lot more theological than I expected, or at least that's the impression I mostly got, however I might also have been a bit distracted in the cinema 🙈 After reflecting a bit on it & watching 1-2 video essays I got around to like it a lot more being able to see it as more of a character development story & sociological parable again ❤️ I also liked the art style & animations, but maybe I expected too much there too, it's impressive however when I learned that they used EEVEE. All in all it was a great experience & I would recommend it any day, really looking forward to seeing it a second or third time! Also world class voice acting performances 🙏 Big kudos to everyone involved, hope to see more similar projects in the future inn all of its aspects! They are definitely a great inspiration & Latvia's pride for this piece is totally justified 🫶

#evuwatched The Odyssey (2026) & despite its length controversy I thought it was very well paced! Great concise epic~ Sad about a few omissions (Been a while since I read Homer) & also pretty much agree with Wilson's review …as a movie it felt well rounded tho! So conclusion: Better than Beowulf 😋

#evuwatched TADC:The Last Act (2026), saw it with a friend in a theater last weekend~ For the series' plot alone I probably wouldn't have went, but also wanted to support the craft & endeavor of GLITCH during all this time ❤️ Still want to watch it again before diving into fan theories & reviews :3

#evuwatched Drive (2011) …it suddenly spawned on Prime, so I was finally able to get it off my backlog! And it's good, but tbh I expected a bit more due to its cult following? (RIP Kavinsky)

#evuwatched Wake Up Dead Man and after I was a bit disappointed by the 2nd movie last year, I'm glad this one was a delight again~ Really appreciate it to still get modern mysteries with the style & character of Agatha Christie's works 🙏

#evuwatched Asterix & Obelix - The Big Fight (2025) & really liked it :3 Same with the last two 3D films tho 👉👈
(The rendered style is nearly as charming to me as the drawn animations~ Live action on the other hand… "The Middle Kingdom" was like torture 🫠)
Also the series format worked well here IMO

#evuwatched Rick and Morty (S3-7), dropped this over 7 years ago & tbh don't know why I picked it up again, but just kinda felt like giving it another go to see if it had outgrown its bad reputation & if it had anything new/interesting to say~ LTIA (longer text in alt-description)
alt: Promotion Art of Rick and Morty depicting both of them leaving a green portal review: I kinda remembered liking the meta plot line with the citadel & multiversum hunt, but unfortunately there seemed to be less of that in the recent 5 seasons & unsure if it will ever get better, since what they showed was rather lackluster and treading water... As for the episodic content it was a bit hit & miss, there was one take on veganism ethics that I found thought entertaining, but the rest was IMO forgettable ...but maybe I just still lack the intellect to understand the very high IQ takes of this show :^) There were some funny pop culture references tho! All in all I'm not eager to come back for S8, unless things turn out to be its final with a promising resolution~

#evuwatched Satoshi Kon double, since my local theater showed Perfect Blue (1997) & Paprika (2006) was leaving Netflix last weekend~ Saw it as a sign, now I've just got to finally get to Paranoia Agent, which is on my backlog for over 15 years now, but not easily accessible here 😞 (Reviews in Alts)

Still, 20 years ago it was definitely a great milestone for its genre

#evuwatched (The Case of) Hana & Alice (2015 & 2004), got sucked in by the rotoscope esthetic (A soft spot of mine since Aku no Hana), but stayed for the pure-hearted depiction of youth ❤️ The live action story (taking place at a later point) is a bit different in tone, but still pretty charming~

#evuwatched Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) + End of Evangelion (1997) …it was quite a trip 🙏 Postponed it for so long bc I never cared for Mecha (didn't catch the hype for Gurren Lagann or Code Geass when I watched them) but now I see Eva's influence in all of those or Yoko Taro's work~ More in alts

#evuwatched Resident Evil (2026) & it was hella entertaining~ Probably the best video game adaption I've ever seen 🙏 And glad to report that it still has lots of humor, which I definitely very welcome atm (actually a bit hard to believe that there was an even funnier cut …still wanna see that tho~)

#evuwatched The Hobbit Trilogy (2012-2014), took the chance before it leaves Netflix again tomorrow~ What to say tho? It's more Jackson's LotR, so whoever likes that probably ate well :D for me it also has the same problems as those, but dunno if I would also had welcomed The Odyssey's approach?

#evuwatched Obsession (2025), so I guess it got its high ratings for being extremely unsettling & not for being very clever? I couldn't really stand the exposition, so it wasn't what I expected 😖, but all in all it's superbly executed therefore justifying its hype~

A real highlight was to meet @jdebbiel.bsky.social ! What's truly amazing is that I saw their Museum piece on here back then & fell in love with the artstyle …and exactly one year later I was able to buy a print that Joey even signed 🥰 While the other designs fit my (recent) evuwatched quite well :D

#evuwatched Papillon (1973 & 2017) saw the classic & didn't like it much, but thought I could give the remake a shot …which I enjoyed quite a bit more (even when it was missing a lot of iconic stuff)! All in all probably not really my kind of epic film, but maybe I should've read the novel instead?

#evuwatched Fallout (S2) …ya, didn't cancel my prime subscription 🫣 but at least made some use of it! However, conflicted about S2: It felt a bit …much (considering EP runtimes)? …all at once? Sometimes just to reference a game bit? We'll see if S3 will therefore end up tying it all together better~

#evuwatched Saltburn (2023) & I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I thought this would be more scandalous? However, it was quite neat & enjoyable. The cinematography was great & I liked Keoghan's performance even a bit more than in The Killing of a Sacred Deer~

#evuwatched Spirits Within (2001) or rather first rewatch in 15+ years~ Fortified my opinion, it's quite an okayish sci-fi movie, just not very Final Fantasy. And the German dub might even be better than the English one? All in all: Forgettable, but at least I didn't get any uncanny valley shivers 🤭

#evuwatched Thunderbolts* (2025) as the third super hero thingy this year based on a recommendation by someone who said it had some great representation of depression …for me it felt like just another Marvel movie 😅 Also took me two attempts to sit through it, so unfortunately not what I hoped for~
