Published 6 August 2026, 09:00 A major UK interconnector project had to be redirected after a public outcry that it would go straight through the 'grave' of Dobby, a fictional elf from the Harry Potter books, it has been revealed. The interconnector in question was Greenlink, a 504MW link between the Irish and British electricity networks that went live last year. The link runs from the north of Wales to the north of Dublin, enabling wind and solar power to be sent across the Irish Sea as needed.
