I can't prove it, but I believe in my bones that ExitLag is a scam.

One of FFXIV's top World-prog raiders (iTrolledU) is looking into the DDoS situation, and said they're collecting data on different VPN providers and packet re-routers like ExitLag to see if any of them fully circumvent the current DDoS issues.

iTrolledU believes, and I'm inclined to agree, that the actual FFXIV servers are not being DDoSed and it's likely an NTT node, which can be routed around if that's the case.
Early data looks encouraging if you use ExitLag or NordVPN and route to Los Angeles, or use Cloudflare WARP.

The issue has been fixed.
The problem seems to point at the vpn/exitlag and the reason why passwords weren't updated after i changed them was likely having just to wait a bit longer after resetting them.

Throwing this out there to see if I can get some help:
Just earlier I was on XIV playing normal and logged off the game. Later on I try to log back in and I'm met with an Incorrect Password or ID message which is very odd.
I have not gotten a password change notification email

if you haven't been following, you can very reliably dodge the disconnects with either specific exitlag nodes or cloudflare warp. i've survived every ddos almost without noticing in the last couple weeks with the latter
