my favorite thing to do is to sit in one spot in my house and give expository dialog to anyone who walks in uninvited and talks to me

Writing: This expository scene has gone on too long.
Editing: This expository scene needs another 3k.
Reading: Oh, good, I explained what the fuck I was thinking here.

Screenwriting tip: it’s always good at the start of a scene to have a clear idea of what each character wants. For example, “I want to deliver expository dialog.”

i really enjoyed the odyssey despite agreeing with a lot of emily wilson's criticisms of it (& finding nolan's overly-expository dialogue generally irksome) but she did go a bit angry video game nerd in her review there

People complain about the big long expository cut scenes at the end of kojima games, no, that is your reward

This is needlessly expository, especially for a paper that is very stingy with word counts

She can't say no, if expository evidence exists it cannot be withheld!!

This week, Ursula wants to to embed a complex task into a story that's not really about that task. How'd I do? #AmWriting #WriteSky #WritingCommunity

rewatched Addams Family Values. the pacing in this thing is nuts but it still goes pretty hard. also i think we should bring back doing cash-in alternate versions of popular tracks as expository movie theme songs

Why, when a TV show gets a spin off, do they so often try to start it with a bad expository episode with brand new characters who are just annoying instead of some of the characters we're familiar with from the OG series. This is a rhetorical observation I don't need actual answers

Words that make me happy!

Zeal! Perceptive. Vintage. Facade. Veneration. Tacitly. Impudent. Disposition. Amenable. Envisioned. Ruminate. Altogether. Happenstance. Manifestation. Uncharacteristically. Expository. Intuition. Fair. Contemplation. Consideration. Mustachioed. Anticipatory. Voyeuristic.
Words that make me happy!

Aside from "Schadenfreude" and "Wanderlust", I really like a good "stele" in "autumn" when the sun "sparkles" on the leaves, while the air you "exhale" "transforms" into clouds.
I'm also going to add to this because I have no interest in "words that make me DNF" or whatever. I would much rather appreciate good ones.

For me?

Words that end in -ant are like candy to my brain. I love elegant, radiant, supplicant.

I also love "acquiesce".

This is one of the best documentaries that I've seen in a very long time. It balances poetic storytelling with expository heft. Even if you know the historical arc, this film likely adds depth to your cultural analysis of who is a zombie and why we make zombies.
