Spent the last 3 days in Nantes at Utopiales, talking cyberpunk, eco-terrorism, direct action. My french publishers Argyll are sweethearts, and the team at Utopiales were wonderful.

I am full of coffee and gallette and awe of the french SF community.

Merci!

Water-bears unite! Amazing creatures. If you've ever wondered "How does life always find a way?", these little guys jump to the top of the list. As happy in the vacuum of space as they are clinging to hydro-thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean. The ultimate extremophile.

His latest release is The Deep and The Drowned, a high-octane tale set on turbulent seas in the same world as The Rotstorm.

Ian also has a PhD in clinical epigenetics - which explains Extremophile

We analyzed evolutionary convergence across sulfide spring fishes and found that similar selective regimes beget similar evolutionary responses. Fine-scale environmental variation matters: lumping environments into categorical habitat types can obscure patterns of evolution.
Ecology drives the degree of convergence in the gene expression of extremophile fishes
Abstract. Convergent evolution is common and a testament to the repeatability of evolution. Still, non-convergence is also widespread, and a major question
