Yeah, there's a few elements that in some parts are described as a joke/parody and then in another section/book they're trying to be completely straight and serious with it and it doesn't really work. Extropia being the main one that comes to mind

a lot of these "personal" uses for chatbots remind me a lot of Extropia in eclipse phase, where you have to hire an AI lawyer to defend you from the deluge of BS from everyone else also using an AI lawyer & constantly suing people for anything that could be a tort, and no one interacts normally
