I've wanted to build an open fUSI analysis toolkit for over 6 years. I finally had the opportunity to do so exactly a year ago, when I began my postdoc.
Today, @felipecybis.bsky.social and I are excited to share our work! 🧵
We introduce an open-source Python package and @napari.org GUI for accessible, scalable and reproducible functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) analysis.
From beamformed IQ data to statistical analysis. 🧵

Other fields had amazing software ecosystems, and I couldn't help feeling that fUSI was missing something similar.

We've already received valuable feedback from several labs, and we're excited to keep improving it together.
Looking forward to seeing where this goes! 🤝

📅 Want to see ConfUSIus in action?
We'll demonstrate how to use it for fUSI processing and analysis at the Paris Ultrasound Workshop, 8–9 December at the Paris Brain Institute.
Hope to see you there!

🫨 Brain motion can introduce unwanted fluctuations into fUSI recordings.
ConfUSIus provides volume-wise motion correction by registering individual volumes to a common reference, together with motion estimates that can be used for quality control and denoising.

🧩 fUSI is becoming an increasingly powerful tool for neuroscience, but processing and analyzing the data remains a major challenge!
With ConfUSIus, we want to make it easier to go from raw recordings to data analysis, without having to build everything from scratch.

And I am specially proud of this one! @sdiebolt.bsky.social and I have been cooking this for several months now and it has been such a transformative experience!
I am confident the fUSI community will benefit from such a package and we hope @confusius.tools will benefit back!

I've long felt that this fragmentation has slowed the field down, making it harder for newcomers to get started and for researchers to build on each other's work.

It’s super exciting to see the fUSI community growing and be able to contribute what we can 🚀

🚀 And this is just the beginning!
Beyond providing useful tools, our ambition is to make fUSI methods easier to develop, share, and compare across labs, working towards standards as a community.
We're committed to keep improving ConfUSIus, adding new methods and features along the way.
