Nintendo's design comes from the NES to make it easy for small hands to reach the primary button. Hence A is on the right side. B is the 2nd easiest because it's the second primary button.
Where you rest your thumb really depends upon the size and the genre. Nintendo games generally use facebuttons

I mean, heck. It's become a popular accessibility option to just flip all the inputs on a controller as a left-handed option, meaning some players actually will be trying to use the D-pad as an alternative set of facebuttons and the facebuttons as an alternative d-pad. Might as well unshackle 'em.

And it looks like the US was the only area with concave Y and X buttons
I honestly wanna see concave buttons come back on controllers beyond arcade sticks. If all the facebuttons could be molded like the Genesie 6 button/Saturn ABC buttons, that would be appreciated

so i was trying to disable the cmos super capacitor thing with some tape to fix some power issues the 3000 has when that goes bad. I don't think that worked and now half the facebuttons don't work waaaa

ja, ohne die backbuttons wäre es eine quälerei, man ist ja ständig am springen und sliden. sich dabei umsehen können ist super wichtig. und die stickbuttons können dann auch auf die facebuttons gelegt werden (nahkampf und so). gyroaim ist gar nicht so wichtig, aber nett.

Und ich muss sagen, ich war etwas mehr messy, aber gleichzeitig auch viel schneller beim hacken mit der Maus als mit den Facebuttons. Fühlte sich sehr schnell sehr natürlich an.
Hatte eher Probleme damit eine Ausweichtaste zu finden die sich angenehm anfühlt.

The Arcade Legends Mega Drive II containing The Ooze is also only a few years younger than ICE.

Facebuttons are reasonably clicky, L/R are less clicky than the 8BitDo 2C controller but don't feel overly mushy.
Stick spring seems slightly stronger than the 2C, ridges seem fairly grippy

Este Katamari de PSP está bien, es divertido, mola... Es Katamari, al fin y al cabo. Pero los controles originales son terribles, no imagino jugarlo sin emulador, mapeando los facebuttons a la seta derecha.
Usar savestates también ayuda, igual que tener retro achievements.

Este Katamari de PSP está bien, es divertido, mola... Es Katamari, al fin y al cabo. Pero los controles originales son terribles, no imagino jugarlo sin emulador, mapeando los facebuttons a la seta derecha.

"get a mobile PC like a steamdeck instead of a switch 2!" theyre ugly and clunky and that matters a great deal if Im gonna hold something in my hands for hours on a plane sorry. call me when the steamdeck doesnt have facebuttons crudely sliding off the controller

Eu vejo diferença nenhuma. Tenho controle de PS4 e o ultimate 2c e não sinto diferença alguma. Transito entre eles e o controle nativo do Deck com naturalidade.
O pior é Switch/Xbox pq inverte XY nos facebuttons.

If only the Xbox Duke's facebuttons were like the ABC buttons on the v1 Sega Satuen controller, it could have been a much more comfortable controller. But every Duke I tested at Xbox testing stations felt like if you glued Pokemon TCG counter beads to a stump
