I pushed back. That's the standard? I didn't linger, I didn't argue, I didn't touch, I didn't block. I delivered a harmless one-liner, she said no, I left. Yet her subjective discomfort was treated as decisive. This isn't isolated. I've seen it before: women overreact, driven by insecurity or frantic thoughts about intentions. Their discomfort overrides male agency, even when no bad intent is present. Meanwhile, extreme cases like Weinstein or Cosby are used as cultural reference points to smear any initiative by men. Popular culture reinforces the same narrative. Look at this viral clip where a woman randomly claims a stranger as her "boyfriend." (The original had millions of views but I cannot find it.) This is obviously staged, but why did it get so much traction? Because people believe male initiative is inherently dangerous, while only the passive man, waiting to be chosen, is virtuous. This is how society works now: male agency is vilified, female discomfort is elevated, and initiative itself is pathologized. But it is our job to not let that stop us. Be respectful but high-agency. Be the active participant, not the passive one. Maybe then we can reverse this dangerous trend.
