Two men have been charged following a large-scale police operation in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter after reports of a man carrying a firearm. The arrests occurred around 4:45pm on Monday, with officers swarming the area near Moore Park. Police seized an imitation gun, a ballistic vest marked with a US flag, and items suspected to contain hard drugs. The 35-year-old man was charged with possessing an unregistered pistol in a public place and behaving offensively, while the 39-year-old faced charges related to prohibited drugs. Both were taken to Surry Hills police station, with the younger man denied bail and set for court on Tuesday. Authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat to public safety. The operation involved multiple vehicles and tactical units, with footage showing officers in gear near restaurants on Bent Street. The incident highlights increased law enforcement activity in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
