Solas knew about this and he can't bear the thought of Lavellan losing her freedom. So he confronts Mythal then he offered to be her general and defeat Falondin in her name in exchange of Lavellan's freedom.

The backstory: Lavellan willingly becomes Mythal's servant and soon-to-be-priest to avenge her clan death slaughtered by Falondin. As soon as she becomes a priest, Mythal will grant her power, but the cost is it will bind Lavellan to Mythal's servitude even after death

Congrats to everyone who have guessed the mysterious owl guy is falondin! revealed him early because my hand itching to design him.
I want to make him "unsettling" like the mention of death itself. So i combine bones (rib cage) and thorns in his robes that makes you think twice to hug him

it’s interesting bc falondin and dirthamen apparently were one spirit that gained independent bodies when they became physical (if I remember morrigan’s dialogue correctly). but also, being at one point the embodiment of an emotion makes experiencing other emotions difficult.

Interestingly, there’s a somewhat similar statue in the dalish origin in the ruins you go in to with Tamlen. He recognizes the statue as Falondin. It’s this one:

The Deepest Fade is where they go for Uthenera and the codexes in Trespasser, and codexes about FalonDin and Dirthamen, and what Solas says, all are consistent with it - it takes talent to find the far reaches of it. It's hard to go *far*.
