#AlphabetChallenge : continuing #WeekAforArt i'd like to take the chance to post about the Ninth Art, comics (Eight Art being cinema)
more specifically, gonna highlight argentinian graphic/plastic artist Carlos Nine (no pun intended). he drove me crazy as a teen with his great illustrations
very stilized illustration of a smiling sailor duck telling to a kneeling coquette dressed in chorus line clothes: "Did you know there's a national comics contest 'Carlos Nine'?" to which the brunette girl replies "Really?" pic stolen from https://characterdesignreferences.com/artist-of-the-week-13/carlos-nine captionless page of comic "Fantagas" #1 (1995), done in watercolor and showing several cartoony characters. one of them is the title character pic stolen from https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=686662&GSub=104906 page from the graphic novel "Tropikal Mambo" (2016), done in charcoal and watercolor, showing a surrealist landscape with a human-faced crescent moon in the sky. the bottom caption narrates: "Late in the evening, I travel the coastal avenue with my wooden car. I spend hours observing how the tourist's garbage and the waves inexorably enwall the coast and destroy the pier. The tropical breeze is wonderful." pic stolen from https://www.lambiek.net/artists/n/nine_carlos.htm pic cropped from "Los tangos de Keko. Episodio de hoy: Pibegelatina" (1987), done in inkpen. waiting for a styllized train to cross, Keko says "I know solitude just as you do. Where do you live at?" and gets answered by his car ride companion: "Corrientes 348" stolen from https://ahira.com.ar/ejemplares/fierro-no-32/
