In a shock move, this week’s Friday update is actually on Friday! It’s been a busy week - here are some of the things I got up to.
1) Sorting out the paperback edition of A Tale of Books and Potions...

...but going up to 6 x 9 inch format has really helped. It’s now live on Amazon and a good saving on buying the books singly.
5) Having a very interesting introductory coaching call.

6) Doing a stocktake and making a BIG book order ready for various events that are coming soon!
7) Did I mention launching a book?! And also reading the lovely reviews from ARC readers, which are a huge relief.

I don't have "spooky" but I do have "spook." This is from Opus Eternal: Tess's goat is acting a bit strange #WIPSnips #WIP #AmWriting #WritingPrompts #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Fantasy #FantasySky #FantasyRomCom
I stomp into the backyard like the child Mom just accused me of being and greet Marigold. Instead of giving me her usual sassy bleat, she spooks like a hungry bear just hopped her fence. “What’s gotten into you?” I say out loud. She gazes suspiciously at me and my milk bucket, the same me with the same milk bucket who comes in here every single day at about the same time. “All right,” I say. “I’ll get the eggs while you calm down.”

My choices were either this scene from Opus Eternal or a note I found in Miraculous Horrors that basically said "Insert scene here." #WIPSnips #WIP #AmWriting #WritingPrompts #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Fantasy #FantasySky #FantasyRomCom
I laugh out loud this time, then we fall into a comfortable silence. Now that my brain is no longer occupied with thoughts of law enforcement, it decides it might as well flash back to my Lorcan sex dream. Worse, as the image of Lorcan lounging on that chair reinserts itself into my mind, my breath catches and my heart speeds up. The silence gets less comfortable. “I … think I need to go to bed,” I stammer. He fixes me with a lingering stare. “Why?” “It’s 4:30 in the morning.” My voice comes out sounding a lot less resolute than I want it to.

This is from Opus: Lorcan checked into Tess's B&B last night and this morning he ordered one of everything on the free breakfast menu. Tess is very slightly annoyed with him. #WIPSnips #WIP #AmWriting #WritingPrompts #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Fantasy #FantasySky #FantasyRomCom
Lorcan grins at me like a Cheshire cat, and I’m relieved to discover that I’m less dazzled by him than I was last night. It must have been the late hour, the purple dandelions, and the temporary insanity. “Oh, I’m not eating all of it,” Lorcan says. “I just wanted a taste. You’re welcome to share.” There are at least three different ways that’s offensive, and now I’m even less dazzled. I bite back a mean desire to give him a numbered list. “I hope you slept well?” I say instead. He slathers strawberry jam onto a piece of toast. It seems one packet wasn’t enough for him because he opens up a second one and uses its contents to turn the slather into a strawberry jam swamp. “I did not,” he replies, still grinning. “The mattress in my room is dreadfully lumpy, and the sheets are scratchy.”

Another one from Light Wielding: Sunday gets some truth mojo worked on her. #WIPSnips #WIP #AmWriting #WritingPrompts #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Fantasy #FantasySky #FantasyRomCom #AmQuerying
He pinches the light with his thumb and forefinger and stretches it, putty-like, until it’s long and fibrous. Then he loops it over his finger and shapes it into a tiny knot. He flicks it in my face. I sputter and sneeze. My head fills with a warm, fuzzy glow. “What’s the Moth King planning?” he asks. “I don’t know,” my mouth replies. Shit. My brain did not authorize those words.

From Light Wielding: This is kind of out of context because I didn't want to spoil this scene, but Sunday has just pissed off the Striga. #WIPSnips #WIP #AmWriting #WritingPrompts #Writers #Writing #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #Fantasy #FantasySky #FantasyRomCom #AmQuerying
It opens its fanged mouth and makes a noise somewhere between the wail of a grieving child and the sound the demon ghost lady made in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis opened the Ark of the Covenant. I indulge in the thrill of victory for about a second and a half before the Moth King wraps his shadowy arms around me. I hate porting, but I've never been this glad to be whisked into a cold tempest of darkness and nausea.

The cover of the ebook edition of Magical Bookshop 4-6. It's red, with a black cat sitting on a building which has books leaning against it. The cat is batting at the title with its paw. It makes sense to me, and the cover of the audiobook will be more or less the same. So there.
