The books being banned in FBISD are *not* legally obscene or harmful. This is censorship. And it is wrong.
After reviewing the meeting minutes, it appears every book was removed due to non-compliance with EFB (Local). Had this new policy not passed, these books would still be available in libraries, as they did not meet the criteria for harmful materials or obscenity as defined by the Texas Penal Code.

This is worth celebrating! Books in FBISD have been targeted by some sitting school board members and traveling pastor activists who don’t even have kids in the district. Advocacy by @FriendsOfFBISDL is making a difference. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

FBISD removed Boy Toy—a thoughtful, age-appropriate novel on trauma—without clear review or justification. If based on discomfort, not policy, this risks censorship and legal issues over students' rights. Transparency matters.

It’s day 2 of early voting for the May school board elections, and today’s Race of the Day is in Fort Bend ISD. Why does this race matter? There are two spots up for grabs in FBISD, and they will determine the balance of power on the board for the next few years. TL;DR: Vote for Afshi and Angie.
