#feanor
Or there's Saruman, the misunderstood genius…
Or Feanor, the character who embodies everything a cool anti-hero can be.

inorite? someone wasn't paying attention when he read The Silmarillion. Too busy writing Feanor/Morgoth slash fic.

Which was some major goddamn shade at Feanor.

"So, Feanor, what did you do last weekend?"
"Oh, y'know, just a little light Kinslaying..."

Feanor. Hubris was his sin, his pride of his craft, and it kicked off... Everything.

2) Galadriel should absolutely be part of the rebellion of Fëanor due to her pride. Ditch the late idea where she was fighting against him at Alqualondë and *definitely* ditch the even later idea where she never rebelled at all. She is fully incriminated. (Maybe not in the Kinslaying itself)

These are all fuckin stupid, and probably deliberately so, but the balrog one really gets up my nose. If this dipshit had more than a Funko Pop grasp of Tolkien he'd have access to all sorts of angry but not specifically evil weirdos. Fëanor, for christ's sake.
man some people really took that Little Mermaid casting hard
November 3, 2026 at 2:03 AM
Or is it Feanor pushing on to Thangorodrim only to get bodied by Balrogs, and we're his sons?

My headcanon: I'm a Noldorin elf who left Valinor for Middle-Earth via the Helcaraxë (cuz fuck Fëanor) & went on to party with the Sindar elves in the first age. I woke up one day hungover with the tattoo & eventually went back to Valinor after the War of Wrath to scandalize those who never left 😌

I'd go a step further and say its straight up Envy as the cardinal sin, much like it was for Rousseau. Which makes sense given the latter's occasional anarchist bent.

Basically all the cases of moral cowardice stem from envy.

Feanor is the only one where I think theres an easy case for pride.

Feanor ve Saddam haklıydı

Aren't then? Ages ago now I wrote pieces on various Tolkien stuff for The Mary Sue and one was about Feanor whom I called an asshole. Some dudes were SO MAD and I every so often I think about it and laugh. Before he was definitely an asshole.

quips aside:
a) i wouldn't consider denethor or boromir to be villains.
b) everyone gets a second chance, even morgoth got a second chance
c) yes, there is complexity but also a bright line between what is good and what is evil
d) feanor is such a dick

Fëanor fits a little too well. Swears one oath and his whole family is still paying for it three ages later. Textbook Scorpio, probably with Mars in there too.

"Today i am endorsing morgoth for king of gondolin. The sons of feanor have made it clear i'm not welcome in their kingdoms, and morgoth already has shown incredible leadership and initiative in democratizing the light of the trees."

So many tales about the silmarils and so few people left alive who have actually seen them
I suppose Celebrimbor might have even seen Fëanor wear them during festivities in Aman before he got too possessive of them and locked them away

*Maeglin muses*

So Valinor (aka "The Undying Lands" or "The West") had 2 trees that gave the whole world light. Fëanor, an elf, crafted some jewels (the Silmarils) that captured the light of these trees.

*this was a bad idea*

And I just learned this fun fact about Fëanor & Galadriel!

Celebrimbor's father and uncle, sons of Feanor, tried to take Nargothrond from its own king and were thrown out. Celebrimbor stayed behind and disowned his father. In the next age he forged the Rings of Power.

I like Fëanor.
Pissed, strong-willed, art kid.
October 30, 2026 at 5:13 PM
To create something on that level means putting pieces of your fëa inside. That is why Fëanor could also not replicate them if you ask me...
In any case, I suppose some of our relative's not so positive attributes made his way into the gems and that is why they ended up the way they did

Bonus point for Tolkien’s Fëanor, who is REALLY angry that Morgoth has moved his dad from his fortress to the Halls of the Dead *which is literally down the road from his fortress*.
October 29, 2026 at 3:19 PM
Fëanor was Celebrimbor’s ancestor, of course he would not speak like that about the Silmarillls. Though I do not think he would call his Tings of Power a “trinket”, either, Elrond…😌 *smiles, amused, as he prepares the pheasants and offers the discarded parts to his warg*
