My corner of fedi isn't talking about it, but then again, the instance I'm on is part of the fedipact so even if I wanted to follow someone on Threads, I can't.
That whole political rigmarole is why I think AT will probably succeed in the longer term over ActivityPub. The user has more control.

what the fuck was even the point of threads trying to federate? afaik it still doesn't work even halfway properly. and there hasn't been any word of it in a while. what the hell happened? if meta announce they're shelving activitypub integration i am gonna turn the day of the announcement into **FediPact Day**, a yearly celebration of resistance to corpo control on the fediverse and in online indie spaces generally here's to hoping, i suppose #FediPact #meta #threads

Well, sure, initially you might imagine a schism over transmisic grifters a la fedipact, and then over crypto bros, and on and on. Im not saying it would be unmanageable or impossible, but that it seems messy and replays the development of instances as such despite the network architecture
