#feijoas
@seagoatscreams.bsky.social I know you are not online much these days.

But I thought of you today, and I wanted you to have a nice notification when you do log in.

I learnt about feijoas from you, and I wanted to show you that my feijoa plants have their first flowers. I am very excited.

That sounds fun! I do something similar with quinces, guavas (Kiwi strawberry guava, not the tropical one) and feijoas, but with lots of sugar and no gelatine. Keen to give yours a go some time :-)

Some New Zealand specialty must tries:
- meat pies
- fish and chips (seaview takeaways is my go to)
- l&p (soda)
- pineapple lumps and hockey pockey (candy)
- cheese scones
- feijoas or anything feijoa flavored
- slices or nz style donuts

Feijoas, also known as pineapple guavas, are available now at area farmers markets. Read the story and share your thoughts below ⬇️
Why this small, green fruit with ties to Brazil and New Zealand flourishes around Sacramento
Feijoas, also known as pineapple guavas, originated in South America, became popular in New Zealand and flourish in the Sacramento area.

feeling a little homesick 🇳🇿 today, seriously craving some feijoas and goody goody gum drop ice cream

Feijoas who knows, other guavas are all over the map, but the jujubes and quince are drying on the trees and the persimmons have another week until ripeness.
End of October is feijoa time in my neighborhood, but with that weird rainy week flanked by these heatwaves who knows.

You should try Whitakers chocolate, anything marshmallow from Cadbury’s (wrong season for Easter eggs) and pascall jet planes were a surprise hit in my office.

You are also out of season for NZ’s favourite fruit, feijoas but you can get ice cream and smoothies year round.

This is a post for, I think, Brazilians and New Zealanders? The random feijoas that occasionally get planted as decorative street shrubs in San Francisco are doing their thing and I just baked my first test cake. Anyway, just writing to say you all are Correct about feijoa sellowiana

Yes. It involves throwing them in the bin. Right alongside the feijoas. 🤪😜

Happy Tuesday BeetBox fam! We hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend!

It was another harvest-ful week on the farm!

We harvested 300 pounds of produce, including feijoas, tomatoes (62 pounds!), green onions, green beans, chilacayote, eggplant, and figs!

I also have two feijoa trees (another name is pineapple guava. It thrives here and we go mad for feijoas!) One just planted, one to go.
I put them in a year ago, but a garden store sold me some spray for a fungus/pest problem, but it's toxic and only meant for ornamentals.
They replaced the trees.

omg the feijoas are dropping

And feijoas
And Kōwhai
(Ok I'll stop now)
