Two years ago today - dusk at Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón beach. Just love that place.

Will miss those icebergs...

Vestri-Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland
Waves crashing over a very turquoise iceberg, with some spray shooting up in the air. The sky above is steely grey.

Icebergs on Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón in south-east #Iceland, from Feb 2018.
Three small turquoise icebergs on a black sand beach with long exposure making the receding waves have nice white stripes on the beach. Above is grey stormy cloud with a touch of pink sunrise light.

Getting a bit closer to the icebergs, as I love to do...

Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland
Sunset light behind a rippled surface of an iceberg, with a few spots of light bokeh.

On this day 12 and a half years ago I saw the coolest ever iceberg. Never seen one like it since.

Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón, #Iceland
A six-foot (ish) high turquoise iceberg with a small friend on a black sand beach. Grey rainy day with some of the turquoise reflected in the blank sand, and long exposure smooth waves breaking.

More long exposure, hand-held wave photos from the Eystri-Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón on a stunning morning in Feb 2018.

Long exposure waves at sunrise, with some clouds above and an array of blues, greens and whites.

Can't wait to be beside the seaside again :)

This was taken at Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón, #Iceland in October 2023.

Back to the waves... these are taken off the coast at Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland in late Feb 2022. A rather stormy day!
A big stormy grey sky with a stormy sea below, with white waves crashing out to sea and the water almost black.

Fog seen from above with sunset colours reflected. In the distance are some snow-capped mountains with a glacier visible sweeping down.

More crazy formations inside an iceberg.

Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland
A weird pattern of ice, inside an iceberg. It is almost gold and again looks metallic.

A very turquoise iceberg on a beach with long exposure slowing the waves a little. Black sand beach to bottom left and very grey stormy skies above.

I see faces in things all the time...

Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón, #Iceland.

Surface of an iceberg with all sorts of icy lines and shapes and patterns. It looks to me like a troll face, with eyes, nose and mouth.

Black & white waves at sunset at Fellsfjara in October 2024.

Jökulsárlón #Iceland
Massive waves crashing near sunset, with huge amounts of spray forced upwards by the wind. The waves are glowing in the sunshine, but the photo is converted to black and white.

The weekend starts here!

Always love looking back at pictures of icebergs in the surf at Fellsfjara #Jökulsárlón #Iceland
Very turquoise iceberg sitting on a black sand beach which is hidden by waves. Long exposure. Dark skies above, over choppy seas, although it looks smooth because of the long exposure.

And more breaking waves. Long exposure can make them look so gentle (they're not!).

Vestri-Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón, #Iceland, Oct 2023.
Long exposure photo with two waves breaking and a little sunset light on the front one and a little white spray above.

Almost didn't go to the beach this morning; glad I did!

Vestri-Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland
A massive turquoise iceberg sitting in the surf with a small bergy bit to its right. The sea is smoothed with a long exposure, and the icbergs are reflected in the pale wet sand.

Another wonderful iceberg, this one at dawn, on Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón, on this day in 2020.

#Iceland
A blue-grey iceberg with lots of intricate patterns and shapes has dawn light shining through it and behind it. There's a bit at the bottom that looks a bit like a dolphin.

I can never get enough of these things 🧊💙

Vestri-Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón #Iceland
Close up of the surface of an iceberg on the beach. There is a vaguely hexagonal pattern of little convex scallops and the colour is an intense blue/turquoise.

More wonderful patterns seen by looking inside an iceberg on the Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón in #Iceland.
Mostly black and white patterns seen by looking inside a slightly turquoise iceberg. Some squiggly ice patterns also visible on the outside of the ice.

Same beach as the last photo I posted (Fellsfjara, Jökulsárlón, #Iceland) - this one taken in Oct 2024, and 1/2500 seconds - amazing colour in the waves. Taken on another windy day...
Green waves breaking, with the spray backlit by the sun. Fast exposure so the waves are distinct.

Incoming breaking waves at Fellsfjara beach near the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. The waves always seem to be pretty magnificent there.

#Iceland, Oct 2023
Peachy skies near sunset with waves crashing against a black sand beach. There is a huge line of the wave breaking with wind catching the spray and it being blown backwards above the waves.
