the last ff's released in 2006-10-16-23, with an increasing gap in between each- given that theres about a year increase each time we can extrapolate that final fantasy xvii will release in 2031, and the predicted "final fantasy xviii" event will occur in 2040, perhaps even 2041

It'd be cool if ff14 took some notes from GW2 and we see some meta-event style fate systems with the update. FF's open world maps are one of it's major low points, and it's where gw2 excels

I’m at the final dungeon in ff resonance. This actually might be my favorite new game I’ve played this year. It really does feel like a true love letter to ff’s roots. I never would’ve expected this from what I thought was just gonna be a salvaged version of a gacha game. It’s nothing like that.

O'Callaghan & Chambers are competing to be "FF's Trump" thinking it makes them appear strong. They look stupid, venal, nasty, & cringe. Which is very Trump, in fairness, & I'm sure FF voters are lapping it up. Since there's about 3 of those left they're not hard to please

Time for Jimbo to go. FF are already in the death spiral so they need to do something here. If they don't they'll lose further ground on FG & SF, & Aontu will also gain on them. I don't think there is any liberal left still in their base, so I don't see anyone on the left gaining from FF's demise.

This defence of Rosebank is dangerously flawed. Still needing ff’s is no excuse for opening new oilfields in a climate emergency. Rosebank won’t deliver cheap energy or independence. Real energy security means ending ff dependence. This isn’t pragmatism. It’s climate denial dressed as economics.

Turning off FF's AI was originally something done by cracking open about:config, searching for a list of specific settings, and individually disabling them. (And originally, they all defaulted to being on.)
They only added the "cut off switches" in the settings after months of user complaints.

At this point, ff went fully off the rails in the coming years. No more turn based final fantasy, we got weird experimental ff’s, 13-2 and lightning returns following that especially. 15 was its own thing, and then we hit 16 which plays like DMC.
When this happened, we got lost odyssey which unfortunately flopped sales-wise, and a lot of ppl just kinda declared the genre dead, with parts of it surviving largely on handheld consoles or games that were considered niche.
Now I personally don’t think ff13 was the worst game of all time, but let’s not forget the hallway allegations and “the game’s just playing itself” allegations.
