#ff6celebration2026 day 15: magical fatigue - 10 of wands
This card tells of struggles, burdens, duty, responsibility, stress, obligation, and burning out. The tenth and final card is the last piece of that suit's story; here, we have arrived at the end of our fight against the Empire!
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 15: Magical Fatigue - 10 of wands - This card tells of struggles, burdens, duty, responsibility, stress, obligation, and burning out. The tenth and final card in a suit is its culmination, the final piece of that suit's story; in this case, we have arrived at the end of our fight against the Empire! We see Celes carrying a heavy burden so very close to the edge of the Floating Continent, the indication being that we have already struggled in life and have succeeded, and now we carry our harvest to the final destination. We aren’t quite there yet, though the hardest part is over, and we need a place to relax and revel in our success. This is reminiscent of facing and defeating Atma and being utterly exhausted just before witnessing the fall (literally) of Ghastra [Gestahl] and the rise of Kefka. The message here is that the burden would be better if shared. I chose Celes to bear all the wands so that her friends may escape, since she appears when your party is incapacitated and cements her choice to align herself with the resistance.

Day 14: Paralyzed by fear - 8 of swords -
This card represents feeling trapped, restricted, victimized, paralyzed, helpless, powerless, and imprisoned.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 14: Paralyzed by fear - 8 of swords - This card represents feeling trapped, restricted, victimized, paralyzed, helpless, powerless, and imprisoned. Celes is bound and blindfolded, a captive in a prison of swords. There is a way out; she could see the gaps between the swords to escape her if she were only to remove the blindfold. Barren land conveys a lack of creativity while a grey sky signifies despair, fitting for the dying and rotting imagery of the Floating Continent. The blindfold may mean restriction and lack of clarity; the puddles are intuition and subconscious. The swords could be a dreamscape image in Celes’ mind rather than the literal interpretation of the moment in the story when she must decide once and for all which side she is on. Will she choose to assist in the creation of a magical super race to subjugate the rest of the world, striking down her so-called allies who trust her (do they truly?)? Or-- will she stand up to the people who molded her into the formidable weapon she became?

Day 13: “Take my hand” - 6 of Swords

This card indicates moving on, departure, leaving behind, distance, and accepting lessons.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 13: “Take my hand” - 6 of Swords This card indicates moving on, departure, leaving behind, distance, and accepting lessons. I have seen this card’s message described as “you are being led.” The Rider-Waite image depicts a woman and child on a boat--signifying transition and journeys--being rowed to land on the other side. Setzer steers the airship from the rapidly deteriorating Floating Continent, and--since we waited for him--Shadow is crouched before him as the world ends.

Day 12: Chupon Appears - 8 of wands -

This card indicates building momentum, movement, speed, progress, quick decisions, sudden changes, and excitement.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 12: Chupon Appears - 8 of wands - This card indicates building momentum, movement, speed, progress, quick decisions, sudden changes, and excitement. Eight wands are literally flying in the air at maximum speed through a clear sky— our heroes on the Blackjack will not rest until they get through the obstacles between themselves and the Floating Continent (including Typhon [Chupon] and Orthos [Ultros]). The wands appear as though they are about to land, anticipating the end of a long journey. Once we take on Ghastra [Gestahl] and Kefka, we will surely win and we'll have saved the world. Right?

Day 11: Kefka’s Greed / Betrayals - 7 of swords

Lies, trickery, scheming, strategy, resourcefulness, sneakiness, cunning— this card perfectly depicts our villainous Kefka, particularly as the Floating Continent rises to the sky.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 11: Kefka’s Greed / Betrayals - 7 of swords Lies, trickery, scheming, strategy, resourcefulness, sneakiness, cunning— this card perfectly depicts our villainous Kefka, particularly as the Floating Continent rises to the sky. Kefka is sneakily absconding whilst carrying five swords (magicite) in his hands. Behind him, two other swords stand in the ground. His face shows confidence; he is sure he will be successful in his mission, but there is at least one soldier who is raising a flag or weapon as if to signal pursuit. This card indicates the willingness to go rogue, with the possibility that you’ll be caught or found out.

Day 10: Thamasan Legends - 10 of pentacles

This card signifies legacy, roots, family, ancestry, inheritance, foundations, affluence, stability, privilege, and tradition.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026: Day 10: Thamasan Legends - 10 of pentacles This card signifies legacy, roots, family, ancestry, inheritance, foundations, affluence, stability, privilege, and tradition. The card features an old man with an elaborate cape seated in an archway leading into a great estate, implying that he is the proud head of the family. He is surrounded by loved ones including a grandchild playing with a dog- what better card to feature Stragos [Strago], Relm, and Interceptor (sorry, Shadow)! Cards with imagery depicting children indicate legacy and a stable future for those to come, and dogs represent loyalty and companionship. The number ten in tarot represents the culmination of the work in all the previous cards of that suit, and the pentacles represent material success; thus indicating that everything you have put effort into will pay off in the future, and all will work out in the end. This is the moment in the World of Balance when you think you’ve finally succeeded in keeping your magical village safe and you may use your own power to help unite the espers and the reformed Empire in peace and live happily ever after. The NPCs pictured here are Thamasan legends from a campaign our friend ran: a charismatic healer, a roguish artificer, a secret esper, and a scholarly barbarian. Thamasa is a very close-knit family; found-family absolutely counts.

Day 9: Misunderstandings / What is love? / Late Nights - Four of Cups
Cups in tarot=emotion, and 4=stability; however, the preceding three cups (1=love; 2=unity/partnership; 3=friendship) led to stability that causes contemplation, disconnection, melancholy, discontent
Cups in tarot typically have to do with water and emotion, and the number four usually indicates stability. In this case, the preceding three cards are positive (ace/one is love; two is unity and partnership; three is friendship), and this has led to a stability of sorts that causes stagnation, apathy, contemplation, feeling disconnected, melancholy, boredom, indifference, and discontent. Locke sits on the balcony in Alburg [Albrook] contemplating three cups: the past he is unwilling or unable to give up. His arms are crossed, indicating that he is emotionally closed off, and he is looking away from Celes, who is offering him a cup of her own, symbolizing love and forgiveness. In the Rider-Waite card, the cup is being offered by a hand coming from a cloud (divine intervention— Celes-tial? … I’ll see myself out), and the man sits beneath a tree, a symbol of growth, creation, and knowledge. The implication is: we have the answers to our troubles offered to us, but we’re too busy focusing on what we don’t have instead. This card reminds us that we are in charge of our own lives, and we must evaluate ourselves and adjust our approach accordingly.

Day 8: Dealmaking - 2 of pentacles -

This card means balancing, resourcefulness, flexibility, and stretching resources.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026 : Day 8: Dealmaking - 2 of pentacles - This card means balancing, resourcefulness, flexibility, and stretching resources. Setzer holds two coins and an infinity symbol (balance and possibilities) - balancing his own chaotic nature with the Returners' mission. In the Rider-Waite deck, there are two ships that ride giant waves in the background, representing staying afloat despite being in rough and choppy waters. I chose to use the sky with clouds and the Blackjack for obvious reasons. The original figure depicted is carefree as he dances, handling all that comes to him with joy; while our Setzer may be a bit melancholic and brooding, he is canonically lucky and derives pleasure from taking risks. Who better to align himself with than a ragtag group of Returners to bring down the powerful and corrupt Empire? Perhaps the deal we make to bring him to our side could turn the tide to our favor.

Day 7: Muddled Emotions - 7 of cups -

The seven of cups represents choices, searching for purpose, illusion, fantasy, daydreaming, wishful thinking, and indecision.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026 : Day 7: Muddled Emotions - 7 of cups - The seven of cups represents choices, searching for purpose, illusion, fantasy, daydreaming, wishful thinking, and indecision. Celes stands with her back to us, contemplating seven images creeping out of the cups which are floating on clouds. Clouds can represent contemplation, uncertainty, and confusion. The images emerging from the cups are representative of the many visions one sees while dreaming, which may indicate many options to choose from. I chose: the Empire (the flag), the Returners (the Blackjack), Locke (his bandana), a bouquet of roses (being an opera floozy), cards (that gambler who asked for her hand), magicite (a childhood infused with magic), and a sword (rune knight). She can't have them all; no wonder her emotions are muddled.

Day 5: Choose a Scenario, Kupo! - 3 of wands -

This card indicates momentum, confidence, expansion, growth, foresight, and looking ahead-- this time with more resolve on established and stable foundation, represented by the three wands standing rooted in the ground.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026 : Day 5: Choose a Scenario, Kupo! - 3 of wands - This card indicates momentum, confidence, expansion, growth, foresight, and looking ahead-- this time with more resolve on established and stable foundation, represented by the three wands standing rooted in the ground. A plan has been made (recall the 2 of wands, when Figaro stood against the Empire) and is now starting to cement; however, Mog (we) must decide where to go first, figuring out how to bring these plans about with more conviction. We must be aware of more opportunities that may be presented to us along the way, which makes sense given that this is where we add Celes, Shadow (albeit temporarily), Cayenne [Cyan], and Gau to our story.

Day 4: Hard choices - 2 of swords

Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026 : Day 4: Hard choices - 2 of swords The two of swords indicates the confusion faced when forced to make a difficult choice. Blindfolded Tina [Terra] holds a sword in each hand: she must choose to fight for either The Empire or The Returners. The background shows a sea surrounded by crags and rocks representing obstacles (for ships) that stall progress and action; I wanted the imagery to represent the Lethe river (and the raft). The blindfold indicates indecision; she cannot see both the problem and solution with clarity. It could also mean that the problem will continue indefinitely until a decision is made and may require intervention. The moon on the right side of the card symbolizes intuition, hidden truths, and perhaps the difficulty she has in making her choice. *What if she doesnt want to be a weapon at all?*

Day 3: Heroes on the Run
2 of wands
This card means leaving home, planning, making hard decisions, leaving one's comfort zone, and taking risks.
Final Fantasy VI Celebration 2026 : Day 3: Heroes on the Run 2 of wands This card means leaving home, planning, making hard decisions, leaving one's comfort zone, and taking risks. Edgar stands holding a globe (exploration, ambition: opening himself to leave Figaro and venture out into the world). He is looking off into the distance (originally at mountains, here at sand dunes, symbolizing obstacles and distant plans; scheming Kefka is another obstacle, as is protecting Locke and Tina [Terra]). Edgar is making the decision to act on publicly aligning with the Returners and taking a stand against the Empire. The wands in a standing position touching the ground as well as the castle represent stability. In the Rider-Waite deck, the figure wears red and orange to represent enthusiasm for life and hunger for adventure; here Edgar embodies the colors of Figaro and the desert (gold for the sand and blue for the sky).

Day 1: War of the Magi / Hidden Histories / Conquest
5 of Swords

This card represents a war with no winners: the battle is over, but all is not well.
A tarot card featuring a man standing in the foreground holding 3 swords, two swords lay at his feet. In the background are two espers facing away, faded, dejected. They stand on a gloomy sky with dark clouds. The war is over, and while there is a "winner," no one has really won. The outline of the card is gold, there is an abstract blue and Grey border, and "five of swords" is written over a piece of magicite at the bottom of the image.

Doing a tarot project means designing the coat of arms for the royal kingdom of Figaro! FF6 sneak peak for my artober #ff6celebration2026
A coat of arms meant to represent the kingdom of Figaro. A medieval-inspired gold Lion stands on the left with claws bared; a brown bear stands to the right. In the background is a pale green cactus with pink flowers atop each spine. There is a blue and gold crown above a shield. The shield is bisected diagonally, blue atop to represent the sky, gold on the bottom to represent the sand. On the shield are two gears, one gold and one blue.
