He’s 6’4 and not exactly a weakling, he knows- of course, logically, that doesn’t mean he can’t be victimized but. Seriously? Greg collects his things for a shower, “I just feel- Tom, it’s not very nice to tell your best friend to his face you think he’s ugly as sin.” Tom screws up his face, “Greg, that’s not what I said and- what’s your fucking deal, man?” “Have you maybe considered that I am also in jail right now?” Greg snaps, raising his voice, “that my headspace may be unideal, and I don’t feel so good exactly?” Tom takes in a deep breath, “I mean- you seemed to me to be acting as if this is normal, Greg, and that you were hunky dory.” “It’s not, and I am not! Just how stupid do you think I am, Tom? Seriously? Just because I’m- I’m happening to try to point out that we will be able to survive this doesn’t mean I’m- that I’m doing so okay.” “Well, I’m sorry,” Tom says, and he means it but it doesn’t sound authentic in the slightest, “for not reading your mind, Greg. It seems, just, that our coping methods are equal and opposite.”

A screencap of word: It was almost nighttime proper by the time they left the diner, so they found a dive bar to drink in, playing some pool. Angel was doing many extremely unnecessary things with the cue whenever his turn came around, and John snapped a couple of pictures. “Don’t lick that, who knows who’s touched it?” Nyka chastised. Angel laughed and dragged his tongue over the tip, then made a face and spit to the side. “Bleh, chalk.” It got a laugh out of several of his friends, which was what Angel loved the most. Not long after, someone announced they needed to pee, so Angel followed the ladies- Posie and Cherri. Lawny sometimes went to the women's, sometimes the men’s. Technically, so did Angel, but tended to go to the women’s whenever he was with Cherri. “What- what happened to Nat?” Angel asked, fixing his lipstick as Posie shoved Cherri against the sink and kissed her. Cherri pulled back and just rolled her eye and shook her head. “We're- Nat’s not a thing. Off again, whatever.”

Angel allowed himself to fall off Husk’s lap. Husk followed him, but laid down on his side, not climbing all over him. Angel looked Husk’s face up and down. It was hard to stay focused, his mind was buzzing- he actually was pretty tired, but somehow still going. Probably the fucking pills.

Anthony took his thumb from his mouth, tried again, reading out the words slowly. Praying. Begging, even. Remove the homosexuality from him, absolve him of it, whatever. Things would be easier that way. Maybe take the addictive personality, too, make drugs less enticing. Put him on the straight and narrow, let him grow up. Anthony finished the prayer and shut the book, then scoffed. Shit, did he just get blood on some fancy old book? From the library, no less? Goddammit. Suddenly, the radio started tuning, and Anthony jumped back, head swimming with the abrupt movement. “Why, hello there,” a pleasant voice said. “You called?” “Excuse me?” Anthony said, eyes blown wide. “I’ve been summoned- you’re, hmm. You’re in New York, huh?” the voice asked. Anthony planted his hands in front of the radio, staring at it. “Is- fuck, what did I take? My radio is talking to me?” “I’m talking through the radio, I’m not actually the radio itself,” the voice replied. “God?” he asked, voice quiet. The radio laughed. “Not quite.”
