The main point, for me, isn't about objectivity vs. engagement, but the way Marco Aime used to position himself. Nowadays he's one of the most well-known italian etnographers and in his vocabulary is sometimes terrible. We are far from his point of view, years light.

This is entirely bonkers :) Not really the style I would like to (or could) emulate but it is hilarious (particularly as I was a student of cultural anthropology struggling with the idea of fieldword), will read when I have the opportunity.
