My WIP: WHEN HARRY MET SALLY+NOBODY WANTS THIS, but make it (ex-)Mormon and bi.

1 summer as fieldworkers spent questioning his religion & her sexuality. 10 yrs later, they reconnect as Drs. with a new question: how to believe in someone else after refusing to believe at all. #DVParty #OWN #RomCom

So a remaining question is: what does overall fitness look like? This is work in progress...watch this space!

Finally, I want to say a massive thank you to all of the many amazing fieldworkers and funders, without whom this work would not have been possible.

He deserved a safe, loving home 💔 Instead, fleas were EATING HIM ALIVE. PETA fieldworkers rushed to help, but his tiny body couldn’t hold on. He died on the way to the shelter. Please keep animals safe inside with you.

Thanks to the massive efforts of numerous fieldworkers involved in Wytham tit data collection for almost 80 years at @egioxford.bsky.social, which enables the application of cool new methods like these to fundamental questions in ecology!

turns out authoritarianism and a lack of humane treatment for migrant fieldworkers is bad for food safety

The fieldworkers who have continual direct contact with crops.
What's that demographic?

Systemic biases rarely act alone, they intersect in complex ways. Addressing them requires sustained allyship: identifying and advocating for our colleagues, and building more equitable workplaces. Few more links:

Like, wouldn’t a reasonable economic system figure out a way for all the dishwashers, fieldworkers, clerks, etc to afford lovely lives, and everyone in general to just feel secure? Are we sacrificing this for the gilded slop at the top?

In July 2026, a small team of @rspb.bsky.social raptor fieldworkers converged on a sun-singed field & ventured towards Britain’s best kept wildlife secret. Inside a patch of barley crop, left by the farmer as habitat for Britain’s rarest raptor, is a Montagu’s Harrier nest. c-js.uk/4zzs7eh

Fieldworkers in Aceh, Indonesia, have recorded the 10th wild birth from a local orangutan rehabilitation project.

The milestone offers hope as a new study shows Sumatran orangutan populations declined by nearly 20% between 2011 and 2023 due to habitat loss.

Reclaimed water can potentially be a point source but another non-point source? Improper sanitation facilities for fieldworkers.

In English: No bathrooms.
OPINION: "I am a public health water microbiologist who collects sewage water & tests it for evidence of harmful pathogens, such as cyclospora. The first time I studied cyclospora was in the first outbreak ever documented in the U.S., a small, 45-case outbreak in Florida in 1995," Joan Rose writes.
Opinion | Cyclospora Likely Came From Sewage Contaminating Our Food Supply
Joan Rose writes about the possible cause of the cyclospora outbreak being due to sewage contamination in the food supply.
