There are many amazing women in history, but this #internationalwomensday I recognize the hardest-working woman I know: my Mom.

I wasn't sure my father was going to make it to this day 2 yrs ago. He's still here for their 52nd anniversary. My mom & dad keep each other hanging on, despite the system bearing down & their health struggles & financial woes. I can't say enough: #FightPovertyNotOurSeniors

I surprised my parents for their 50th anniversary with a vow renewal after Mass.
After his major stroke in April, I didn't know if my father would live to see this day. I'm beyond grateful he did.

Not only is needing money a factor, @businessinsider.com , but this job also provides on-site residence, so she literally works to have a place to live, as my parents lost their house of about 22 yrs, my childhood home, about 17 yrs ago.

My father turned 72 today. I'm so glad as I didn't think he'd make it past 71 considering his stroke last year. But my mother just worked 7 days straight at 73. She was understandably bushed tonight. This is not how it should have to be. #FightPovertyNotOurSeniors
