It is left to subsequent, mostly Expanded Universe works in Star Wars to demonstrate how the obliteration of Alderaan's billions has profound, truly Jovian moral and political weight. But the films? Absolutely not. It's never mentioned again, and doesn't even factor into Leia's filmic story.

The sheer, staggering, genocidal scale of the crime here--of the Death Star's very existence--is largely implied. And the destruction of a planet that means relatively little in filmic language doesn't do enough to drive it home. There are no scenes on Alderaan, no Alderaanian characters save one.

We just Wicker and it was so so moving. The filmic quality was lovely and made wife very happy. The ranchy sillyness of it and all the heart. Fwarrrrr

btw if any of you are like me and find the filmic adjacent agx tonemapping annoying and subdued your can disable it by setting the "view" to standard.

It's also my favourite use of the film/VT mix, repeating the Carnival of Monsters production masterstroke of having unreal worlds depicted with filmic verisimilitude and a spectacular alien culture knocked up for tuppence ha'penny in a studio and held together with allusive world building dialogue.

"I marvel that so few film festivals – of any scale – have engaged in their own historicisation using filmic means..."

One of these filmic scenarios where split into different selves, and one speaks as Grant wrote.

Id really recommend the Ghosts film. It manages to make a sitcom-film that has a really filmic quality that makes it worth seeing in the cinema.
It's friday! Time for the weekly good news thread! What's your good news from the week? What's made you smile? I went to see Ghosts: the possession of button house and you should all go to see Ghosts: the possession of button house and you will smile too! (pics from set visit in April, no spoilers)

“Sometimes I just want to jerk the wheel into goddamned bridge abutment!” [hair]

is a major piece of filmic echolalia for me. It lives rent-free in my head, and pretty close to wherever the thinking goes on, too. Right on Main Street, it would seem 😅

That color grading is really working. Is that filmic or something you built yourself?

Already thought you were awesome, but you make films in the PNW. I’m a PNW native and LOVE PNW movies. One of my fav filmmakers Lynn Shelton made movies in Seattle and she is one of the most singularly wonderful filmic voices ever.

I can’t wait to check out your movie when it’s available online.

The incredible lack of filmic imagination in Hollywood- fear of failure makes them push ever more sequels to sequels to prequels & interquels or whatever...

there's this idea of how backrooms footage should feel, what its horror should be, and i see this film as deliberately doing it differently. the presentation is clean, the story is told as a filmic narrative from the third person, it takes advantage of what can be done in a feature film

Hey! Just some feedback that in lower light, the filmic grain structure collapses from filmic into Nokia territory. Confident there will be improvements to make things look more like high-ISO, but pretty dismal compared to other camera apps at the moment, and not up to the entry price.
